Radiato fan doesnt work

Radiator fan doesnt work unless i run it direct to battery

Sounds like maybe the tempature sensor it connects to on the engine is bad.

Agree the temp sensor might be the culprit, but also try to check the fuse and relay.

Undo the top and bottom radiato hoses.r ,remove the trans cooling pipes,remove the support bolts and electric fans if fitted,it should then lift out.

Cooling fan in front of radiatoe does not work car overheats

Check your fuses first. If they are good, replace temp sensor. If this does not get it to work, fan needs to be replaced.

What Switch or control makes the radiater fan come on? and need the diagram for the radiator control switch, 1993 saturn sl2.

Ok. The way your system is set up,you have a fan switch located in the engine block,usually near the top.That fan swtich sends the voltage to the fan motor or to a fan relay then to the motor.You can jump the fan motor directly to make sure the motor itself is not burned out by unplugging the motor and running a jumper wire from your battery pos terminal to the terminals on the fan motor itself..If you have checked the motor and it does work,then the easiest thing to do is simply replace the fan switch.You should have a Coolant temp switch and a radiator fan switch and possibly and Radiator fan relay.I would try the radiator switch first,then replace the relay.The coolant temp sensor is for the computer and usually doesnt tie into the radiator fan switch.try that and repost.Good luck

Well I am assuming you are meaning the radiator fan is not working.The radiator fan motor comes on when the fan switch located in the intake tells that the car is too hot.In which case it closes the circuit and sends power to the motor.The motor could be bad,but the easy way to test that is to run power from the battery directly to the motor and see if it turns on.If it doesnt,then your motor is just bad. If it does, then it is probably your radiator fan switch or the colant temp switch.Both can be bought at Advance or AutoZone.Just remember to wrap the threads of the switch with teflon tape so it doesnt leak when reinstalled.

The car runs hot. the only way i can help the problem is by turning on the heat in the car, and this is the only way the fans kick on. i have replaced the thermostate, radiator cap, drain and refill...

Sounds like you may have a blown head gasket. Is your coolant level low and have you had to add coolant. Still sounds like you may have a cooling fan issue or maybe even a clogged radiator. what is the temperature difference from the inlet and the oulet of the radiatoe hoses? Anything less than 20 degrees and I would say the radiator is toast and you need a new one. And fix the cooling fan issue. But still dont rule out the blown head gasket especially if it over heated...

My radiator fan is not working. the radiato fan relay and the relay for radiator fan (speed 1) are not in the car. do i need to put them in for it to work or what other problems could it be?

I think you are talking about the radiator fan for the coolant in first place and than about the heater fan (speed 1)? If yes than first thing is to get the relay in for the radiator fan as it will not cool your coolant liquid and will cause the engine to overheat, with the second one it is a faulty resistor inside the vent and that is why you don't have the first speed, unless the pollen filter is dirty and the first gear cannot actually **** enough air.

Radiator leaked. Changed radiator. Afterward it was overheating. Changed thermostat. Still overheating. Fan works. Heater is not working.

hmm try driving with the ac on and see if it over heats if not then the normal cooling fan isnt running as fast as it should and need to be replaced..

If that dont work remove the radiato cover and start the car,, your looking for coolant being pumped out the radiator or a lot of bubbles chances are the cylinder head gasket is cracked or the head itself is cracked in eighter case it will need replacing.. Once you see water being pumped back your sure its one of those problems..

there could also be a blockage in the coolant lines ,, let the car cool overnight remove one of the hose and blow into it,, you should see bubbles in the radiator.. if not there is a blockage on one of the hose,, find it and replace it..

I assume from your description that the fan will run until the battery is dead?

Sounds like your fan control relay (underhood, large fuse panel/box) or fan control switch is stuck. Both very simple to replace.

Radiator Fan continuously running with engine off, discharging battery

It is not the fault: for long time Renault has that concept, that is to prevent engine oveheating when coolant circulation is suddenly stopped.

Radiator fan can continue to work up to 10 minutes after engine is off. You should worry about it only if it wouldn't stop even after 10 minutes.
