How do you attach the wiper blade to the rear arm

How do you attach the volvo wiper blade to the rear wiper arm? Are their clips that come with the blade or is something missing on the arm? I just bought a new arm thinking that was the problem but the new blade still just sits in the slot with nothing holding it in...

1992-98 Vehicles
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the rear hood seal. Remove the wiper arm assemblies by raising the wiper blade off the windshield. Move the slide latch away from the pivot shaft and slowly lower the arm onto the latch. This unlocks the arm from the pivot shaft and holds the blade off the glass. Pull the arm from the pivot shaft.

The wiper motor on my 1983 Ford Ranger still works but the wipers no longer move. I think there is a failure of the mechanical linkage. Where do I go to find repair parts?

why do you think the motor still works if the wipers don't move? Can you hear the motor run or can you see a little movement when you turn the switch on?

What happens when you activate the washers?

go to a salvage yard that allows you to remove the parts yourself. Then you can see how the motor and linkage assembly comes out.

don't have 1983 info, but here is 1994:

Section 01-16A: Wiper and Washer System, Ranger/Explorer 1994 Ranger and Explorer Vehicles Workshop Manual

The windshield wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft (17566) are connected to the motor by windshield wiper adapter and connecting arm clip (17531) . Ranger and Explorer vehicles are equipped with an interval wiper and washer (IWW) system featuring a lever-type turn signal and windshield wiper switch (13K359) mounted on the steering column. The IWW windshield wiper governor (17C476) uses a relay contact to control current to the windshield wiper motor . The governor electronic circuitry controls the contact to supply current to windshield wiper motor . A rear wiper/washer system is available on Explorer vehicles. The rear window wiper system consists of a windshield wiper motor mounted inside the liftgate (40010) , an articulating windshield wiper pivot arm and windshield wiper blade , a windshield wiper/washer switch (17A553) and an inline circuit breaker. How to Replace Windshield Wipers

You need to replace only the wiper blades which are attached to the wiper arm with a clip, simply press the clip and slide the old wiper blade out of the arm, looks like a "u" bend so you need to pull it down opposite the bend, then put in the new wiper blade in reverse way only you don't need to press the clip. Once you hear the click and the blade does not move in the arm, job is done.

Front windshield wiper blades

The 2006 Toyota RAV4 takes a 24" drivers side, 17" passenger side and has a special 17" rear blade. Don't just go by lengths though - when buying windshield wiper blades be sure to always use the application guide book at the store or now-a-days you can Google 'lookup wiper size'.

You want to look this up because correct wiper fit is more than correct length, it's also proper attachement. Not all attachments fit all arms. Using the application guide or looking up wiper size online will avoid headaches of buying the right lengths with the wrong attachements.

The replacement wiper blades will come with step-by-step, illustrated instructions and once you have the instructions and the wiper blades/arms in your hands in front of you, it will all make better sense and will an easy maintenance task. Very simple and takes 5-15 minutes usually not requiring any tools. If in your budget, upgrade to the newer-style frameless "beam blades" which perform better than conventional framed wipers. I use Trico NeoForm Beam Blades which are fantastic. Hope this helps!

PS: Your question is about the front blades but if you address the rear blade too, this vehicle has what they call a "Roc Lock 2" rear arm. You can go to your dealer or I know Trico makes an "Exact Fit Rear Integral Blade 12-A". There may be others available too. I've got the Trico on my Jeep and it fits/works great.
