Question about Dodge 400

1 Answer

We're trying to fill the water tank for the first time. on the outside, rear driver's side, there's a guage (pressure?) and to the right of it, there's a hole (for h20?). And what about a water pump? switch?

1976. Yes, I think the pressure guage was added later and is now irrelevant...they used to use air pressure to move the water. Found the switch for the water pump, the pump turns on and the water runs but then stops...problem there.

Any way you guys can send me an original owner's manual for this beast?

92 F150 dual tank. Fuel is spilling from the rear tank out the cap...actually being pushed out by pressure. What is causing this?

Right under the drivers side door there is a round canister looks kind of like a oil filter check to make sure it is not pluged it switches the return to the tank you or using yours is not switching so the fuel is being pulled from one tank and the extra is going in the other tank so the tank is over filling.

Hello! I suspect a defective Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor. It is located on the top of the tank...It has a 3 wire connector...Wire colors are...Brown/Red...Gray/Yellow...And Gray/Red...It cost around $260...But it can be tested but difficult to get at unless you drop the tank...Set volt meter to read 5 volts...Using two safety pins, push one into the rear of the in place connector on the outside pin (Brown/Red) and the other on the other outside pin (Gray/Red)...Turn on key...connect meter + probe to the rear right side pin and the - probe to the rear left side pin...Must read +5 volts...Move the right rear pin to the middle wire (Gray/Yellow)...Must read 3.3 volts...If you do not read the proper voltage the sensor is defective...

When my fuel runs low, approximately 1/4 tank, my car acts as if it's out of gas and dies. I originally thought broken gauge; obvious, right? However, when I filled it up; it didn't take a full tank. ...

funny that you mention ' Dark Matter ' -- there is a possibility that you might have water contamination in the tank (?), you can try and get some gas additives that remove water from the fuel. also, there is the possibility that fuel pick up line has been damaged and is not getting fuel from as low in the tank as it use to.

Fuel fill problem gas pump keeps shuts of when i try to fill

Iown 02 hyundai accent gl 1.6l. Had the problem twice. I used to over fill the tank until I had to spend close to $550.00 USD. The problem is when we overfill the tank. the carbon canister gets clogged and it damages a sensor in the assembly called "DMTL". Thia assy is located under the rear driver side of the car to the left and rear of the fuel tank. Once I replaced the carbon canister, sensor and filter the problem went away. if you let it go for a long time you eventually start smelling gas inside the car after fill ups. Good luck.

I have a1987 F-150. The gas gauge for the rear tank always indicate that the tank is full when I know it is not. I try to put gas in but the tank won't let any gas in. Is there some type of sensors inside the tank that won't allow the tank to be filled or is this a guage problem?

The guage is stuck on below empty with warning light even after filling half a tank 2000 grand cherokee

Three possibilities: your instrument cluster is bad, the wiring has a short or missing contact, the sending unit in tank failed... First check if you get a signal at the connector right over the rear axle. Measure the resistance across the sending unit terminals. With float in up position, resistance should be 20 ohms (+/- 5%). With float in down position, resistance should be 270 ohms (+/- 5%). If you get no value, lower the tank and remove the complete unit to check outside. Sometimes there are only a bad connector or broken wire. Good Luck

Putting water in a mini

From the top of the radiator (which is on the right hand side of the engine) beside the pressure cap there is a small hose pipe which leads to a plastic tank on the bulkhead.

This is called the expansion tank

On the side of the expansion tank is a level mark which shows how much water goes in there

If that is totally empty go back to the pressure cap on the radiator and unscrew it anti -clockwise (Only when the engine is cold and is not running).

Fill that up with cold water (Do you need anti-freeze in the water in your part of the world?)

Once that has been topped up replace the pressure cap making sure it is turned until it locks firmly then go back and fill up the expansion tank

Turn the engine on and let it run a while, water may escape from the expansion tank if you have over filled it.

If there are lots of bubbles and noises from the cooling system have it checked in case you have a leaky head gasket
