Pop off the radio/HVAC bezel/trim it just snaps off and on, remove the screws under the bezel/trim.
Pop off the fuse panel cover on the driver's side end of the dash, remove the screws.
Tug on the dash hood - it's one big piece, and remove it.
Unscrew the cluster.
Disconnect the two plugs.
Reverse to replace. about a 1/2 hour job

I have a 1995 toyota 4 runner and the speedometer just stopped working, what should i look for to fix this problem. Thanks Randy.

Your 1995 Toyota 4runner has a mechanical speedometer cable---it also has a speed sensor in the speedometer head. The engine control module depends on the speed sensor signal, along with other inputs to determine when to shift the transmission, without this signal the transmission cannot shift correctly and can be damaged internally by shifting too early or too late
Most often a new cable will remedy the problem, but don't wait to long to repair it. Good luck, i hope this helps.

well i cant tell you exactly what it is because to do the property diagnostic, id have to be there in person to tell you the exact problem. but what i do want to tell you is DONT buy a new transmission computer. who ever told you that either is just guessing or just wants to get money out of you. the tcu when bad does not allow your transmission to shift. the gas gauge and speedometer just seems to me as you need to replace your instrument cluster. either that, or your speedometer and your fuel pump connections went out at the same time. but i would bet on the instrument cluster. as for the a/c, i cant imagine it jumping, only the rpm dropping a little bit as it does pull in extra power, either way, take your car to different mechanics and get their opinions. hope this helps. goodluck

My 1995 T-100 speedometer stopped working. What

There is most likely a plastic gear inside of the instrument cluster. Here is a link to a company in Virginia Beach, Va. that can send you exactly what you need along with instructions as to how to replace.

All the gauges seem to work except the speedometer

On my 1999 Cirrus the speedometer would work sometimes and other times not. Now not at all. The cruise control always works though. I have a shop manual and found that the instrument cluster has self diagnostics. Press in the digital odometer button and hold it. Then turn the ignition on without starting. The needles will then move to different positions, then each indicator light will come on one at a time. If the speedometer needle doesn't move during diagnostics, then you need to replace the circuit board that attaches to the back of the cluster. You can order one for just over $200 at

How do I change out a non working odometer/trip meter?

This has been a problem with VOLVO especially the 850 models what happens is the plastic senssor inside the speedometer breaks off and it will tell you the road speed but ODOMETER AND TRIP METER will not work and the only way to fix it is to take the cluster out and sometimes it can be soldered back in place or get a used cluster and replace the unit sorry but it is not a simple fix
