Question about 2001 Chrysler Voyager

My 3.3 will not start. it's getting fuel. cleaned and gapped plugs.added new coil. doesn't even get a pop. any ideas?

TAKE #1 PLUG OFF (IF YOU HAVE A OLD PLUG PUSH INTO THE INGITION WIRE GROUND THE PLUG SOMEWHERE ON THE MOTOR HAVE SOMEONE CRANK THE ENGINE SEE IF IT SPARKS AT THE GAP 1 OR O TIMES OR EVERYTIME IF ONE SPARK THEN ITS THE PICKUP IF NOT AT ALL THEN LOOK AT THE COMPUTER

Won't start


Mostly the only things that will stop an engine sensor-wise is the crank and cam sensors. Failure of other sensors will immediately cause the management computer to switch to the get-you-home programme, record the fault and switch on the engine light but will not prevent the engine starting and running.

Your description doesn't mention that you have physically checked the spark.

Another thing that prevents an engine starting is the anti-theft device. A friend happend to leave his keys on the microwave and couldn't start his car until it had been towed to the dealer.
Might be a good idea to check what the handbook says about that...

93 talon tsi getting fuel and spark car cranks but wont start


I would try making sure spark plug wires are put on in the correct firing order. This is a common mistake in tune ups. Most intake manifolds have the firinging order cast in. Plug gaps correct? I cant come too far away.

You always have to at least check spark plug gap

In 47 years, I have never seen a set of plugs that were not
knocked around & the ground electrode bent, on at least
a couple of them

You can clean a rotor & cap & get 3 years out of them,
no need to replace until they get too corroded

Wires last 15 years no problem
Don't get caught up in all the hype & tune-up non sense

The gap is on the radiator support label

The coil has to be tested,you don't throw parts at a problem

If it doesn't start, it has nothing to do with rotor,cap,plugs or wires

You could throw away 2 plugs & it would start on 6

Sometimes car will not start when I get in but may start later on or even 5 minutes later. Car also hesitates when accelerating on highway. I have had a head gasket and heater coil replacement done...


Try adding 91% rubbing alcohol to clean the tank of fuel this eliminates water and gunk in the tank or use injector cleaner 6oz to full tank...... this doesn't always work on 1st try depending on condition of tank /injectors/ filter/ map sensors ( pay close attention)

check to see if fuel is getting to the fuel injectors at the prescribe psi if not check the fuel filter for blockgage you should blow thru with a steady flow of air ......if not replace

check your spark plugs for signs of oil, wear/ proper gap/ wire resistance

When is the last time...... you had a through tuneup......... this will give you better performance overall

My 99 Focus will not start. Fuel supply is OK. Fuel injectors have power. Spark plugs are firing. Engine turns, but will not even try to start.


  1. Check fuel level in fuel tank, add fuel if empty.
  2. Check battery condition and state of charge. If voltage and load test below specification, charge or replace battery.
  3. Check battery terminal and cable condition and tightness. Clean terminals and replace damaged, worn or corroded cables.
  4. Check fuel delivery system. If fuel is not reaching the fuel injectors, check for a loose electrical connector or defective fuse, relay or fuel pump and replace as necessary.
  5. Engine may have excessive wear or mechanical damage such as low cylinder cranking pressure, a broken camshaft drive system, insufficient valve clearance or bent valves.
  6. Check for fuel contamination such as water in the fuel. During winter months, the water may freeze and cause a fuel restriction. Adding a fuel additive may help, however the fuel system may require draining and purging with fresh fuel.
  7. Check for ignition system failure. Check for loose or shorted wires or damaged ignition system components. Check the spark plugs for excessive wear or incorrect electrode gap. If the problem is worse in wet weather, check for shorts between the spark plugs and the ignition coils.
  8. Check the engine management system for a failed sensor or control module.

I have a 2000 ford focus. I went O'Rileys and scanned the code and got PO304 as the code, I've already added new plugs and wires and it still runs like garbage. Any ideas on how to pin point it? do they...


probably not. from there you may still have several problems,without a proper scanner it may take time. first start by removing the cyl for plug wire and hold it slightly away from the plug and see if there is spark-if not go for the ignition module/coils-try swapping coils-p0304 is a cyl 4 misfire-so i would swap a good coil with the coil for cyl 4. if you get a different code then I would say it is the coil or module. if this is not it try going for fuel-check the cylinder 4 fuel injector-there really isnt an easy way to do this without removing it and cleaning it. it may not be a bad idea to add a fuel injector cleaner to your fuel tank. make sure you add it when your almost empty then fill up right after.-there is stilll alot more to check but i would start here.

Engine will not go off


Have vacuum leaks checked from airbox to intake manifold and pcv hose. Even very small ones will throw the computer system off. I had a super small gasket leak in many locations even after the major ones were fixed my problems returned until all leaks were stopped and only then did my computer run flawless for 50+k until new repairs needed addressing even some more vacuum leaks after performing a seafoam vacuum system cleaning.

Changing spark plugs


Changing the spark plugs on a 1997 Ford Expedition 5.4L engine takes patience. Remember to start this project on a cold engine! I started on the passenger side by locating the Coil over iginition coils and cleaned out all the old dirt using some compressed air. Then I had to disconnect the electrical connections to both the Coil over ignition coils and the passenger side fuel injectors. Once you remove the small bolt which holds the ignition coil in place, use your compressed air again to blow out the spark plug hole. After that, you will need a 5/8" swivel spark plug socket and various length extensions to remove the spark plugs. Take your time because there is not much room for your hands. Before installing the new plug, check the gap and use clean engine oil on the new threads. Tighten the new spark plug and reinstall the coil over ignition coil. Reconnect the electrical connection to both the ignition coil and the fuel injector. Continue these steps with all eight spark plugs. You will find the ones on the drivers side are difficult because of the fuel rail gets in your way. Have patience and use swivel extensions to work around the tight spaces. When you are done, you will have saved lots of money! Don't forget to replace your air filter, fuel filter, and pcv valve to complete your tune up.
