YOU WILL NEED TO REMOVE RADIO AND CALL LOCAL BMW. GIVE THE SERIAL NUMBER AND THE CAN GIVE YOU THE CODE. VERY EASY TO REMOVE. FLIP TWO LITTLE FLAPS BACK ON EACH SIDE OF UNIT IN THE FRONT. WILL FIND TO VERY SMALL ALLEN BOLTS. LOOSEN BOTH AND RADIO SHOULD POP RIGHT OUT.

If you're talking about the Anti-Theft Security code for your radio, I'm fairly sure that only a BMW Dealership would be able to retrieve and reset the radio.

You could also try disconnecting the battery terminals for 10-20 minutes, and see if it resets.

SOURCE: CHANGED BATTERY ON 1996 BMW 328I ENTER RADIO CODE

First check and make sure you have not blown a fuse for the radio. I am assuming the fuses are fine so if the radio is original to car called dealer to confirm code and proceedure to enter it are correct. You usually will need the VIN and or serial number form the radio

I think the code corresponds with the radios serial number, and any BMW dealer should be able to give you the code based on that serial #.

SOURCE: 328I BMW radio code-where/how do you find it

if you no longer have the coded card that came with the manual when new, you will have to bring your photo id and vehicle registration to any bmw dealer, they will supply it to you. provided you are the registrant.

SOURCE: 1996 328i bmw sometimes loses power and won't pass smog test

Ok you will have to have it scanned. It probably has cylinder misfire codes and random cylnder misfires. You could need spark plugs and or coils. The scan will tell you exactly which cylinder is missing. That will cure your problem and remember to change your oil and filter right before you go in for the smog test. Also if the car hasn't been serviced in a while it would be a good idea to replace the air filter and fuel filter.

What is the radio unlock code for a 1996 BMW 328i?

If you cannot find the code written on something in the glove box, you will have to remove the radio. Once removed, you will need the serial number off of the radio chassis. You can call BMW with this number and they will give you the code.

Hope this helps!

The only thing to do is call bmw for the code or take it to a dealership and prove you are the owner of that car.
