Check the fuses. Usually on the drivers side, if you're sittting in the drivers seat, will probably need door open, and should be to your left and forward. You can get a set of fuses and a fuse tester in one kit for 5 bucks or so at Schucks or whatever auto supply is near you. Always start troubleshooting with the easy stuff like fuses.

I have a 1999 lincoln continental and the rear window defroster will not defrost the button lights up but nothing ever happens.

check the heating element (the metal traces on the window) for breaks. a break will cause the circuit to not be complete and power will not flow. if you find a break, there is repair kits for it at auto parts stores. also check fuses. just because the indicator lamp is illuminating does not mean that power is making it to the back of your vehicle.

Kia rio air conditioning light?

The manual instructions are basically:

Turn the fan to 0 (off, far left).
Turn the air control to full defrost (far right).
Press the recirculation button at least 5 times within 3 seconds.

If you've done it right, the recirculation button light will flash a few times at about 1/2 second intervals.

I've tried it on mine and this works.
