check the fuel filter and when was the last time you had a tranny service done and a tune up also check the drivebelt
SOURCE: wont shift out of 2nd gear but used to if you
Check cable from throttle linkage to transmission that operates throttle valve on transmission. Not uncommon for the linkage at transmission to be pulled all the way when gas pedal pushed for quick acceleration, or passing, and stay stuck there. Engine off, wheels blocked for safety and/or park brake on, have someone depress gas pedal all the way to the floor slowly, while you watch linkage that cable is attached to on transmission. Then as they release pedal, it should move back in opposite direction. Spray it well, with WD-40 or similar lube and get it moving by hand if necessary to make sure it is fully returning. That may be all it is.

your transmission is bad, start looking for one. Good luck
SOURCE: wont take acceleration
Have you had the fuel pressure checked under a load? If the pressure is ok then check for excessive back pressure in the exhaust system, though that is rare on newer cars with Monolithic (ceramic brick matrix) catalytic converters.
