How to change rear windshield wiper assembly 07 Nitro

I'm not trying to change the blade, I need to change the whole assembly. The nut unscrews and it appears that it should just slide off, but it doesn't. What's the deal?? What am I missing????

The arms are spring loaded to hold them tight to the glass. See if there is a little lever to pull or a half ring deal under the arm where it slides onto the wiper motor.
YOu need to get the pressure off so that it can slide of. Or you need to use some wd 40 or a rust buster on it so it will slide off.

How do I remove the rear wiper assembly from the rear wiper motor

flip the nut cover back up the arm and undo the nut shown
the arm base is normally on a splined taper so you may need a flat blade under the arm base on a piece of something so as not to damage the paint and lever it off the spline

Richard there should be a 12mm nut at the base of the wiper arm. Pull up on a cover to expose it. Position the wiper where it should be for the rest position, Then tighten the nut and try it again.

The rear window wiper blade holder is rusted how do I remove it for replacement?

Three things you can replace depend on your budet
1) you can replace whole wiper blabe assembly by lift up the cover at the bottom end of the bale assembly and un-screw the nut and raplace whole assembly with arm , wiper insert etc ... with the new one This way cost you more.
2) on hte middle of the whole wiper blade assy has the flexible section, you can un-screw 2 small philipe pan head screw with screw driver and disconnect the top section with the wiper blade insert (rubber)
3) slide wiper blade insert out of the holder, becareful with 2 small steel blade will hole your rubber insert inside the wiper frame. Slide new rubber insert in the frame .

The wiper motor on my 1983 Ford Ranger still works but the wipers no longer move. I think there is a failure of the mechanical linkage. Where do I go to find repair parts?

why do you think the motor still works if the wipers don't move? Can you hear the motor run or can you see a little movement when you turn the switch on?

What happens when you activate the washers?

go to a salvage yard that allows you to remove the parts yourself. Then you can see how the motor and linkage assembly comes out.

don't have 1983 info, but here is 1994:

Section 01-16A: Wiper and Washer System, Ranger/Explorer 1994 Ranger and Explorer Vehicles Workshop Manual

The windshield wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft (17566) are connected to the motor by windshield wiper adapter and connecting arm clip (17531) . Ranger and Explorer vehicles are equipped with an interval wiper and washer (IWW) system featuring a lever-type turn signal and windshield wiper switch (13K359) mounted on the steering column. The IWW windshield wiper governor (17C476) uses a relay contact to control current to the windshield wiper motor . The governor electronic circuitry controls the contact to supply current to windshield wiper motor . A rear wiper/washer system is available on Explorer vehicles. The rear window wiper system consists of a windshield wiper motor mounted inside the liftgate (40010) , an articulating windshield wiper pivot arm and windshield wiper blade , a windshield wiper/washer switch (17A553) and an inline circuit breaker. Here is the procedure to remove the wiper motor. It says to remove wipers by removing the nut covers then remove the wiper nuts. Is this what your talking about?
If your talking about the wiper arms they just pop off at the swivel.
Use this link for info on removing blade assy.
