Question about 1999 Ford Taurus
Unhook the battery cable before you start. Next you need to remove the door panel from the door. The door panel is connected by clips along the bottom and side. Its best to use a trim clip tool but you can use a small pry bar or a larger flat head screwdriver. Start from the bottom front of the panel and pry out on the panel to pop out each clip 1 at a time. You will also need to pry out the door hand and trim panel around it. Next pull the door panel out away fro the door at the bottom so you can reach behind it to disconnect the wiring connectors for the windows ,locks, and mirror. Then you can lift straight up on the panel to remove it from the door. This will give you access to the mirror switch where it is clipped to the door panel. You can use a flat head screw driver to pop the switch out of the panel to replace it. If your going to do this yourself my advice to you is if you dont have a trim tool which looks like a mini pry bar the splits into a y at the tip and its at an angle so you can slide it around the clips so your prying out evenly on both sides of the clips and also go to an auto parts store like Autozone or Advanced Auto and buy a pack of new clips for when you reinstall the panel. They are couple bucks for the pack to do the whole door just because at least one of the clips will either break or get to bet the use when your reinstalling the panel. Using new clips when you put the panel back on the door makes it so much easier when it comes time to reinstall the door panel.
