How do I remove the rear end axle on a 1995 poly traction police issued caprice classic

First off I think you mean Posi-traction which means both axles turn with power to the wheels. You remove the axle grease from the rear end draining it then you remove the cover try and do it slowly so that you don't make getting the old gasket off really hard after cover is off you will see the rear end look inside at the pinion gears the axle goes through them you will see how they are held on just remove the pins when putting back together use some axle grease on the splined ends and make sure that the housing and the cover is really clean so that the gasket seals properly ,nothing worse than rear end oil leaking.

Is there a correct way to insert rear wheel bearings on 2003 Lincoln town car

If it is the rear axle housing your installing the seal into
& the seal has an open side

Then the open side with the spring, goes into the housing
& the seal is at the outer end toward you

If you have a long bearing, it could have the seal as part of it
& it is to the outside

Your way of asking, the seal goes toward the wheel, not the diff

I HAVE ONE SMALL HOSE THAT HAS COME LOOSE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR AXLE AND I CANT FIND WHERE ITS GOES. THE LITTLE RUBBER CLAMP IS STILL ON IT. KNOW I DEA WHERE IS GOES OR WHAT IT IS?

That\'s just a pressure vent line and you\'ll find the nipple to put it on at the top of the differential housing. The other end is high to keep water out of the rear.

Cannot get rear axle out of rear end

most axles you have to take off the differential cover and there will be a large pin that goes through the center of the carrier. this pin usually has a small bolt holding it in place. remove bolt and pin and that should allow you to push axle in enough to remove the c-clip on the end of the axle.then you can pull axle out of housing.

My rear diff housing is leaking quite badly. is it possible the pinion seal is the problem

yes it is very possible. to confirm where your leak is, look in 4 places. 1) rear diff cover..... 2)pinion seal, where your driveshaft goes into the rear end, or axle seals, just look and see if there is any fluid on the inside of your tires.

How do you take apart the pasnager rear axle?

You need to remove the rear wheel and brake drum, support the axle housing with a good jackstand. Remove the rear diff cover and find the bolt that goes through one end of the spider gear shaft (smaller gears in center section) Be careful when removing shaft or turning gears that the small gears don't walk out of the housing. Once the shaft has been removed, push the axle in and remove the retaining clip on the inside end, then pull axle out. Reverse procedure to install.

Rear axle bearing problem on 2002 jeep grand cherokee, changed twice, problem returns

you need to check the rear end fluid level, and you might have to put an oversize bearing in if the housing is scoring the bearing race.have a shop install it.

How to remove rear axle 03 chevy silverado

You will have to remove the rear end plate off of the back of the rear end. Then turn the carrier untill you see a big silver pin that goes through the spider gears. Those will be 4 small gears in the rear end carrier. If you look at the right side of the carrier were the pin goes through it you will see a small bolt head, That bolt goes through the carrier and holds the pin in place. Remove that bolt then reach up in the rear end housing and push the pin towards you untill it comes out. ( DO NOT TURN ANYTHING AFTER YOU REMOVE THE PIN) are the spider gears will fall out.

Now get someone to push the axel in while you are looking at the 4 small gears in the housing, when they push the axel in a C-clip will fall off the end of the axel and into the rear end, You will see it fall out. Then just pull the axel out.

When you put the axel back in, push it all the way in then slide the c-clip over the end of the axel and then pull out on axel and that will hold the clip in place untill you put the big long pin back in the carrier. I hope you understand, just watch what you are doing. GOOD LUCK.
