You may have damaged the crank sensor when you removed the engine. It is located at the top of the trans bell housing. I have seen this happen a couple of times.Leave comment

You're not going to get a satisfactory answer to your problem. In 1996, Dodge (and most manufacturers) went to the ODBII standard to be in compliance with Federal emissions standards. That means that the 1998 engine will have to be an engine only in your 1993 Dakota. No multiport fuel injection with a PCM to regulate injector pulse, ignition, timing, etc. Or anything else that is controlled by the PCM (air conditioning, etc).
Your options are to connect what works from your 1993 engine wiring harness, and replace any items that have no connection. Or you can try to adapt your 1993 truck to the 1998 engine harness, and use all the goodies that came on the 1998 engine. But you are going to need the expertise of someone VERY familiar with both generations of Dakotas. Good luck.

My 2007 Lincoln MKZ gear shifter is getting stuck in park and comes out after trying a little while, not every time but its increasing more and more.


On your vehicle there is a shifter interlock system ,it's a safety feature . Doesn't allow shifter to be put into gear if your foot isn't on the brake pedal .

All the dash lights and alarms go off. Especially when I accelerate. Replaced the computer but that didn't help.


Sounds like a major problem with the wiring harness going to the engine. When the engine shifts the wires are getting shorted out or loosing connection.

Engine wont start


there are so many things that you may not have done that is the problem
are all the harness connections clean and tight and correct?
is the cam and crank sensors connected ?
is the immobilizer connected ?
is the ignition control module harness connected ?
are the coil wires connected correctly?
do you have fuel pressure in the fuel manifold?
are the injector harnesses connected ?
have you used a scan tool to reset the ECM?

Hi i have a 2000 dodge dakota 4x4 with the 5.9 and im not getting my drive out of it i did change the motor to a 5.2 but it reves 3000 rpms when im at 100 km why am i not getting the last shift in to drive


If you did not change all the wiring harnesses and the Powertrain Control Module, and if your transmission is not the same as the vehicle that the replacement engine came from when you changed your engine size, your computer system does not know what to do. It cannot control either the engine or the transmission correctly. This is why it is against Federal regulations to replace an engine with an engine that is not the same as the engine that the vehicle was originally equipped with.

make sure the firing order is correctly. going clockwise on the cap it should go 1-6-5-4-3-2 and the cylinders are numbered as follows: passenger side from front to back is 1-3-5 and driver side front to back is 2-4-6

The transmission on my 2000 ford taurus is locked and I cannot get it into drive. It is parked on a hill. I have jacked up the front wheels to try to releive the pressure. The wheels will turn but I cannot...


You didn't put youe e-brake on before you put the trans in park. The Parking paw has to have the presure off the teeth. you can't do that by just turning the wheels. you need to move the entire can up the hill OR down to remove the
presure on the parking gear.
Always, use the parking brake it also, adjusts the rear brakes PADS.

Get those new codes, sure sounds like a MAF issue, also I have run across engine movement stalls, they turned out to be a break indside the engine harness, when the engine moved it would break the connection and stall or run really bad, I found these kinds of problems by pulling and twisting the harness to the engine, then I would cut it open and do the same thing wire by wire.
