Sounds like something loose causing a partial short somewhere in the electrical system. take out and check each fuse one at a time. Do the same for the relays. Give each relay a bit of shake to be sure nothing has got loose. Now check the starter solenoid and the heavy duty contacts for the starter motor. The starter solenoid pulls the armature of the starter motor forward until the drive cog on the end engages with the teeth on the edge of the fly wheel. When it engages a copper bar within the solenoid hits across contacts allowing charge to flow through the starter motor and to kick it into motion and thereby turn the engine over. If these copper contacts are fouled or corroded they need to be cleaned up with steel woo. At this time, with everything out, a general clean up of all starter motor components would be time well spent.

I would guess you have a corroded wire coming off your battery's positive terminal.

You do not have a short, the term short means positive touching negative before a load. if that were the case you would pop a fuse or melt wiring. the problem is you either have poor (corroded connections) or a weak battery.. It is possible you have an intermittant diode problem in the alternator which can be tested at a repair shop. the alternator would fail under a shorted diode situation which can be intermittant. Its also possible the electrical part of the igniton switch has connection issues and will need to be replaced

Saab 900se at a ignition start it almost starts but all lights and signs on the dashboard dims out and engine dies why but will start at a second go

What you describe is a battery problem. have a load test done as new batteries can fail just as easy as old ones. check the all battery terminals and posts are shiny clean and tight.

91 Saab 900 keeps dying... jump start it and it will hold a charge for a few moments then die again.. issue started with right blinker not working when brakes are applied and lights on dashboard would...

You need an alternator! The problem is in the alternator and more specifically, the regulator. It seems to be just hanging on and it is possible the mechanics didn't bother to test for proper charging amperage and voltage. The reason it would dim is because it was relying heavily on the battery instead of the charging system provide the adequate power.

I have 1995 saab 900SE convertible with sensetronic gearbox. the car can not move forward or back.it has check engine ,SRS,light on the dashboard.can you help?

i would have it converted to a regular 5 speed not very hard to do and parts are reletivley inexpensive used, you will need a clutch pedal assembly and a gearbox out of a 96-01 saab 9-3 with all the clutch lines and then its a matter of changing out a few plugs to trick the comuter, there is a write up on this if you are interested will save you lots of headaches down the road -jeff
