Thats kind of an extreme jump to solve what could just be a sensor problem. Have you had a scanner run on the motor to check for sensor response or trouble codes. Some are hard codes and some soft that do not turn on check engine light so try an auto parts store that will run scanner for free and get some more clues. Throttle positon sensor will do this as will other things. come back with more info if necessary by replying and will be happy to help and good luck

I would take a look at the EGR valve. It will cause hesitations and stalls. It is also a lot cheaper to change than the ECM. Always try the small stuff first. : ) You can go by Autozone or Advance Auto and ask them to put their computer on to your car...just to see if anything shows up. They will do it for free!

Check oil first, Low oil sensor will shut down if more than a quart low. Change fuel filter, could be fuel starvation, change the air filter. stopped up air filter will put MAF sensor out of range. PERFORM OBDII SCAN SOON.

I would like to know how to reset my oil light on a 90 Cutlass Supreme Oldsmobile

Try turning the ignition switch to the "RUN" position with the engine off. Fully depress and release the accelerator pedal three times in five seconds. The light will flash twice and go out. I know many GM vehicles use that method
