Yes, I know this problem, it farts and coughs and feels like your dragging an anchor. I had the same problem in my 94 Z28. The problem is the distrubuter, and it is a real cow to change as it is down the front behind the harmonic balancer pully. Try one somple thing first. The main coil wire coming from behind the harmonic balancer to the coilpack, replace that , if that works you can pat me on the back if not, then your up for a new distributer. Remeber here to help as best I can, good luck, let me know how you go. Check my hints on a sneaky way to change the fuel pump on these too. Save hundreds.

GM swears the plugs will last 100k miles, yet I have had to replace them as early as 30k miles.(That was on my wife's 05 Pontiac montana.) A word of advice: Don't get the fancy aftermarket double or triple platinum plugs. I had to replace those again 5k miles later. Went back to ac delco platinums and they're still working after 50k more miles.

1994 jeep wrangler 4.0 idles fine but when traveling cuts in and out and backfires when accelerator is pushed, i do have a cold air intake and jet performance module just recently added

1994 Wrangler with 200,000 miles on the odometer. Similar problem here: Severe bucking and backfiring, and engine misses when traveling down the road. I did an entire tune-up (plugs, wires, distributor, distributor cap, and ignition coil), but got the same thing. I thought it was dirty fuel injectors, so, I poured a bottle in a few times on fill-ups. The final solution, was a bad alternator. My mechanic said it was sending voltage spikes to the computer, causing the engine bucking and back-firing problems.

I have a 1994 bonneville with a 3.8 L WHEN ACCELERATING IT MISS AND ****'S

check the harmonic balancer
if it is soaked with oil, it will slip and change the timing

also check spark plugs and wires
to check the wires find a dark location(no light)
and run engine ,look for sparks

1994 pontiac transport se sluggish running

Ck your exhaust pipe at rear of car noting any obnoxious smell like rottrn eggs. Hold a piece of paper, I use a dollar bill ,in in front of the exhaust. If it blows the paper gently, you have a catalyctic converter going or is bad. Will need replace if so.

Change spark plugs and now car wont start.....1994 ford tarus

Do you have the "firing order" correct? In other words, is each spark plug wire going to the same cylinder it was on before you changed the plugs? If you have done nothing else but changed the plugs then this is the most likely problem.
If when you try to start the car it backfires through the exhaust or backfires through the intake. Then this " IS" the problem. Good luck.

The car won't accelerate and the engine backfires.

If you haven't changed spark plug wires, do so. If you have, then check your timing / timing chain and check for vacuum leaks, or your egr. Good luck! let me know how it goes.
