Check that you have brake lights. fords are well known for wire to brake light switch breaking, repair wiring if broke. replace brake light switch if not working brake lights and wire ok and fuses ok. recommend checking with test light before replacing. just ground test light clip, touch 1 side of switch and should light up tester, other wire should light up only when applying brakes. if this doesnt solve issue, seek professional help via electrical repair shop or ect...

1996 f250 will not shift out of park

Could be a faulty brake light switch or solenoid for the shifter.
You may be able to shift out of park before you turn the key to the on position. Could also be a heavy load on the transmission such as parking on a steep hill.

My 97 F250 wont shift out of park? Engine starts,

most likely your brake switch is out. If you had a scanner you would be able to see if the computer see's you pressing on the pedal. Or if you know how to test you could check to see if it switches ( completes the circuit ).
