Question about 2003 Volkswagen Passat
Just bought my '03 Volkswagen Passat wagon today, with 121,000 miles on it. On drive home filled it with gas. check engine light came on, was not on prior to this, even during 2 test drives. I tightened the gas cap until it clicked, but the light still won't go off. How do I turn off the light, if it was only the gas cap being loose?
It may not reset for 50 drive cycles. It would be quicker to get it scanned by the dealer who just sold it to you and ask them for the code. If it does come back as a small evap leak then they can clear the code and you can be on your way. If the vehicle was left running during you refilling the fuel, it would trigger this code. Just don't tell them that when you take it in. Play dumb and tell them "it just came on"! let me know if you need anything else.
