I am confused - I have a simple query and logged on to your site as you offered free advice! Do you not offer the service as described on your website. I definitely don't need a team of experts to answer my very simple question.

Can you change transmission fluid on a manual transmission if so how

'Transmission Fluid' in a manual transmission vehicle is called 'gearbox oil'. On the gearbox, there is a drain plug in the bottom somewhere and a fill plug on the side. You drain, clean the drain plug, replace the copper washer and put the drain plug back in. Fill the gearbox with oil until the oil starts to weep out of the filling hole. Replace the fill plug.

year make model change gearbox oil

Please include 'year make model' in all questions in this category. Thanks.

Manual gearboxes usually require a gearbox oil change every 30,000 to 50,000 mi (48,000 to 80,000 km). Automatic gearboxes usually have gear oil change intervals of between 60,000 to 100,000 mi (96,000 to 160,000 km). It's advisable that you change your gearbox oil filter at the same time as your oil.

Hi Please how many liters of automatic gearbox oil I need to put back after taking away the old oil? Renault Megane II 1.6 16V 2005, 83kw 113hp

On the side of the gearbox, about half way up, you'll find a screw in plug. Usually with a square head. Remove that plug and fill the gearbox with the proper oil till it just starts to come out of that hole. Quickly put the plug back in and snug it. You're done.

Where do you put the gearbox fluid? renault 2002

depends on model, but im afraid later boxes 2001 on, are called sealed units, there are ways of putting oil in but theres no telling off whether ure box needs oil as theres no dipstick. only thing to do is have a look for a plug elsewhere in the box for topping up, on older models the fill up tube is by the engine manifold.

My grand scenic has been diagnosed with code po841 transmission fluid pressure sensor. where is this located.

There is lots of people out there that think the problem is to do with a pressure switch being faulty. In a way they are right. As the transmission fluid gets old it's viscosity and properties change. It gets grippier and allows for fluctuations in the pressure in the gearbox causing it to alarm. To remove the pressure switch you have to remove 3 other sensors as their wiring harness is all interconnected. By the way it is on the bottom of the gearbox and it in it self is easy to remove.

The best thing to do before sending it to an automatic transmission specialist would be to give it an oil change

it needs 3.5 litres of Type-D transmission fluid. Do not use anything else contary to what you might hear will work. I had the same problem in mine where I could neither put my foot down or remove it from the accellerator pedal without the gearbox going into limp mode.

After the oil change the gearbox has been perfect. the oil only cost $34AUD for 5 litres. Drain all the oil and place 3.5 litres in the gear box.

There is a plug with a square hole that is the filler plug on top of the gear box.

On the bottom of the gearbox there is a filler plug and if you look closely there is a hex head behind that. To drain the gearbox you must undo the outer hex head which is the drain plug/fluid level tube.
