Question about 2002 Honda Civic
2002 Honda Civic LX (coupe), manual 5 speed tranny, with 145 000 kms. started having this weird noise in the transmission, which isnt suppose to be there. its very obvious when speeding up/slowing down in 1 and 2 gears. the noise is similar to the one when backing up

my 1997 honda civic lx is very hard to shift and when i get it to shift sometimes it gets stuck in that gear what could be the problrm and how can i fix that?

Shop one of your pick and pull yards for a tranny. You will diffenatly have to pull it out to fix the gear,unless it is just in the shifter which won't press the shifter fork in the transmission far enough press the 5th gear into mesh(or into gear).
Sounds more like it might be in the gear shifter. Linkage worn or stretched, or a bushing out of the linkage. Take the plastic console off and look at the action of the shifter if it has alot of freeplay when trying to put it into 5th gear I would say, Get a junk yard shifter.
If you go into transmission It has to be pulled out of car to dissassemble it and it really is a job for a transmission specialist. Get a Junk yard tranny and just replace it. They usually give a gaurantee of some sort with the tranny.
