Question about Chevrolet Suburban

1 Answer

I know nothing about cars but my ABS just activated on my 2001 Chevy Suburban. Cut ignition off and motor still running. Happened in 2005 also, cost $1500 to fix. Is there anything I can do so I can drive to work tomorrow. Last time I had to have towed in.

Remove the ABS maxi-fuse (Large fuse) located in the under hood electrical center. In the event you cannot locate that fuse, you can unplug the ABS pump two wire connector at the ABS pump motor located under the vehicle.
Good luck

2001 chevy suburban At normal running temp,

HI,When electrical components such as a stater motor get hot they draw more amperage thus making it harder to turn over the motor. There are 3 possible things going bad (1) Battery (2) Battery Cables (corrosion) (3) Starter. I hope this helps lead you to the proper diagnoses.

what you have is a ABS module that has shorted out internally. you have to replace that module and then bleed the ABS pump AND the brakes at all wheels.

2001 Chevy Silverado anti-lock brakes activate on dry pavement, the pedal pulsates, the typical anti-lock brake sound is heard, and the truck feels like it is not going to stop at times

One of the sensors has gone bad and needs to be replaced, the other thing to that would also do that is the ABS sensor is dirty or needs to be re gaped to the speed ring on the hub. There was a issue bulletin with your Tahoe on the ABS activating under 8 km/h. Good luck and hope this helps, if not clean out the sensor with brake parts cleaner and check the wire harness and ABS sensor bracket. Re gap the sensor to the speed ring hub. Here is the bulletin. 2005 CHEVY +TRAIL BLAZER ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS ON

if chains caused problem and you have driven with them off light would have gone out once it saw everything working properly. look at sensors might have pulled a wire loose with chains. the abs system runs a self test everytime you start vehicle if it sees a history code from last time it will leave light on and look to see if that problem still exists and 99% of the time it will cut light off . but need to have scanned and checked out
