Pretty common on a GM when you have a line open
assuming this is not the case then you might have a new concern
a "spongy pedal" means AIR is in the system
I am not sure what lead to the brake job, but with a spongy pedal you have no choice but to bleed the brakes now
If after bleeding you still have a spongy pedal you will need a scan tool to electronically bleed the ABS
