Question about 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier

1 Answer

Replacing fuel injector

I replaced the injector orings (96 cavalier) on one leaking cylinder. After it was reassembled it leaked worse. I'm thinking that i did not reseat the injector properly and the oring(s) are not 'in the groove'. My question; Is there a technique for seating the injector or do you simply give it a firm push downward? If I'm going thru this process again I want to get it right!

I have a leaking fuel injector, i just replaced the o rings but still leaks

i have had the seal go bad internally before and make it spray right out of the connector, also have had them leak right out of the body due to a split seam which might not even be visible, might be time to just put a new one in and make sure to lube the orings well when re-assembling

96 cavelier the o ring on the fuel rail is leaking gas do i need to releave the presuure first, or?

Most definitely, relieve the pressure before removing the fuel rail from the cylinder head and removing the injector from the rail along with the o-ring.

I have a 96 suburban 5.7 throwing a po305 code, ive replaced the distributor, map sensor, plugs, wires, and coverted from scfi to mfi,the code went away for two days and now has returned. ihave replaced...

The 305 code means a cylinder misfire. You could have a bad valve or a cracked cylinder head (worst case). Rent a compression tester from any auto parts store that does the tool loan program and test your compression. If ALL your cylinders are within 20% of each other, then I would check your injector pressure. I hope its something simple and cheap to repair.

I own a 96 chevy k1500 5.7 l vortec and have a no 5 cyl misfire

It could be a faulty fuel injector, try running a fuel injector cleaner through your fuel system. At worst the poppet nozzle has gone bad and will need to be replaced, you can buy the poppet nozzle it self individually at Auto Zone or buy upgrade MFI system which is much better and less pron to fuel leaking room a cracked poppet line or nozzle which will cause what you have described.

96 S-10, 2.2 liter 4 cyl with MFI, fuel injectors are leaking

I have seen 2 reasons they will seep. Orings not seating and the hold down just a little bent. Are the orings specifically for these injectors and have you tried using some silicon lubricant not adhesive to hold lower oring in place and to lubricate the upper oring that is actually the outer seal?
