Question about 1998 Cadillac DeVille
Is the belt not fitting properly because of it is too long or too short or is something getting in the way? It must be routed in the proper order. I believe that most cadillacs require the belt to be routed leaving the alternator pulley for last. A long 3/8" drive breaker bar should fit in the center of the tensioner. When you have everything lined up, pry the breaker bar slowly while keeping tension on the belt by pulling the belt onto the alternator pulley. Once it seats, slowly add tension back to the belt stopping every few inches to check the alignment. I hope that is helpful but I have not worked on a caddy in a few years.
