Hi,
I am going to go the easy way for you. These models changed rapidly sometimes mid year. The best thing for you to do is take down the vin# - go to the local dealer and ask for a print out that will show you - using your VIN number - that is like a personal look up for you car. They will print out for FREE - the exact instructions. It is not a hard job - really - it looks hard maybe but it isn't.
Also-while I have your attention - ask the dealer about RECALLS - heck they will save you money many times over the life time of a car. Check on ALL recalls and also ask about Service bulletins as well.
I think this will Fix Ya.

Could be - but first you would need to figure out if you are dealing with a fuel or ignition problem to know if the computer is involved.

2000 Chryler Cirrus - engine races all the time

Either the throttle body is being held open by something or the idle control valve is stuck open. Check where the throttle cable hooks to the throttle body, make sure the cable is not caught on something.

All the gauges seem to work except the speedometer

On my 1999 Cirrus the speedometer would work sometimes and other times not. Now not at all. The cruise control always works though. I have a shop manual and found that the instrument cluster has self diagnostics. Press in the digital odometer button and hold it. Then turn the ignition on without starting. The needles will then move to different positions, then each indicator light will come on one at a time. If the speedometer needle doesn't move during diagnostics, then you need to replace the circuit board that attaches to the back of the cluster. You can order one for just over $200 at http://www.discountmoparparts.net.

Speedometer sensor is usually in the cars computer. Sounds like it's electrical though. Could be a sensor part of the alternator. Call Advanced or auto zone. Some places can test stuff like that for free.
