Sounds like the plug is not seating right or tight enough. That fluffer sound is the loss of compression seeping around the plug.
Those timecert or heli-coil kits, if they aren't done right, that's the problem you end up with.
You have to be darn careful not to get any dirt or shavings in the cylinder, or your in big trouble.
The best thing to do is have a professional mechanic do it, or replace the head with a new one or from a juck yard.

When the plug blew out, it most likely stripped the threads and took some metal with it. im sorry to say this, but those re-threading kits never seal like they should because the alloy is different at the plug holes than the rest of the head to make them stronger since they are a natural weak point, being a hole and all. all that sound is really is loss of compression at higher rpm's. because its only one cylinder thats losing compression, it wont take an enormous toll on your motor but it could weaken the surrounding area on the head and cause it to warp along with cause the rings on your piston to expand and contract wildly because of the pressure changing so much so fast. this might cause ring failure which can, over time, destroy your engine. i'd look into getting a new head if thats the case. your valves, springs, etc. are probably fine so id get a bare head and a top end overhaul kit (o-rings, head gasket, etc.) which could run you upwards of $1000 in labor and parts if you "know a guy", were talkin close to $2500 in real terms at 50 an hour for labor. if you can, and have ALL of the nessecary tools, do it yourself. youll save big money. but if you have no idea what a valve seat or pushrod is...don't touch it.

Recheck sparkplug gap and check pcv valve for proper ventalation of burnt gases in crank case . take pcv valve out and rattl it by shaking it if it makes a rattling sound it is ok if not replace pcv valve also make sure oil level is not way over on dip stick. if so drain and corrcet to specification level it calls for .

2002 ford explorer runs really ruff, when idoling and accelerating,

If it hasn't had the spark plugs and wiring changed within 60,000 miles,I'd change them out.
Clean the MAF sensor with brake spray cleaner also.Don't wipe the sensor wires, though. They're delicate.
If this is not the problem fixer, then check for `ye olde vacuume leake',which always is a good guess when idling poorly. don-ohio

Ruff idle when at idle gets worse when you put in gear

Sounds like a skip, or a cylinder has stopped working. This may be due to no spark (coil pack), no fuel (Injector), or even bad compression (Bad valves, cracked head, or something mechanical.)
Get it checked out.

Ruff idle on my 2001 for taurus. At higher rpms it runs fine.

It is most likely you wheel alignment (costs about 20 bucks to have your wheels aligned) or try checking the tire Pressure to make sure they're all even maybe hope this helps

I'm assuming the coilpack got wet!! Check if there is any power to the coil before changing. If thats fine, replace the coil. If there is no power, check your electrical circuit for the coil. Hopefully this helps

Oil on front spark plugs

I just had this problem with my 2002 Ford explorer. I took it to the shop and it was the valve cover gasket. This was causing some slippage and white smoke from exhaust.
