To remove the starter from motor you need to disconnect the battery negative wire from the battery. then remove the battery wire and start wire from solenoid. remove the bolts holding the starter to the transmission bellhousing. then remove starter. installation is the reverse of removal.

the starter is located on the front of the engine if you stand in frt of the van the starter is to the right by the oil pan,slide under the front of the van and you will see it where the engine and trany come together. hope this helps.
I would be a bit leary of hard wiring the fan. That may cause some other problems, such as the motor not getting warm enough in the winter time. I would get another opinion on the price they are giving you. I can see needing to replace the relay, but what is wrong with the wiring, unless the wiring is burnt up, you should be able to just replace the relay.
Remove the cover plate on the passenger side of the heater box, 3-4 screws. Unplug the motor assembly, remove 3-4 more screws that hold the motor in place and pull it down from its position. Get an aftermarket motor and installed it in the original housing with the original squirrel cage. Installation is the reverse of removal.
If you dont have a lift , you will have to crawl under the car and work on your back, there are 2 bolts that hold the starter to the transmission housing and then there are electrical connections for the starter, you should disconnect the battery before you do any work.
