When installing the new timming belt should the left cam pulley be at rest on the timming mark or loaded

Quite normal on lots of cars. You need to have the key removed from the ignition, is it spring or hydraulic tensioner? I would assume hydrualic. You need to have the tensioner released (pressure on the belt) turn the motor twice by hand (ratchet on the crank bolt) If spring tensioner loosen the tensioner lock bolt & retighten this will ensure the correct pressure is on the belt. Turn again twice by hand & recheck marks they should line up properly & by turning by hand you know no pistons are touching valves. I normally mark the old belt to the gears with liquid paper, transcribe the marks from the old belt to the new one, then when your line your own marks up you know it has to be spot on.

I need to know how to set egine timeing when replaceing timeing belt...

if its a twin cam 2.0L, turn crank over until these marks align up with centre crank bolt (to remove pulley remove smaller outer bolts) then remove belt tensioner to remove belt should use cam lock tool to hold cams in position. turn tensioner with allen key anti-clockwise to get pointer in "V" section then do up 13mm retaining bolt. turn over by hand a couple of times and recheck tensioner position as well as timming marks all align up again before reassembling and starting engine.

2005 PT Cruiser 2.4 L timing diagram for belt and cams and crank

Dont attempt this if you dont know what you are doing. Replace the tensioner and water pump. If the belt was broken, the valves are bent. the cam marks are at 3 oclock on the rear cam and 9 o clock on the front cam. the crank is approx 1 o clock. its a specific procedure to tension the belt. so get a book ar have a pro do it.

Timing marks uclear 1997 toyota camry 2.2

Fist thing ... manually put crank at top dead centre number one cylinder
put socket on crank bolt , turning clock wise..
there is a mark on crank, align this with the 0 on the cover of the timming cover to crank.
trusting have aready have all timming covers of .
there is a hole at the 12 o clock postion on cam sprocket , take a light and a mirror look threw hole you should see a "u" shape mark if you can see it
it's where you want it.
as long as the mark on the crank is a "0" and the cam is at the "u"
you should be fine to take the t belt off..
loosen off tensioner , carefuly not to move crank/cam.
ones the tensioner is loose slip off belt.
reinstall new belt , make sure you replace tensioner spring , you should of got one with belt.
make sure when installing belt that the slack of the belt is on the back side
this will be taken up by the tensioner.
i hope this helps
really should have a tech do this job , if not properly timmed, coud damage engine, or run rough.
good luck.

Cam shaft timming marks 1999 Daewoo 1.6 liter

there is a special tool to hold gears in correct place on some of these models, but you can hold one cam at a time with a spanner then feed belt on exhaust cam then inlet cam gear
get someone to hold gears in place while you feed belt on.
the inlet cam is more prone to turn off mark more than exhaust.
if you have tensioner that needs retaining pin in when installing
you fit belt while aligning timming marks
fit tensioner as last spot to feed belt on with retaining pin in adjuster
get correct tension on belt by turning water pump so that you can flex (turn) belt 90 degrees only just while using finger and thumb
tighten water pump check flex
check all timing marks are correct
remove retaining pin from auto tensioner
turn motor over a couple of turns by hand observing tensioner arrow should hover around V mark and that all timing marks align up again(after one complete turn)
