Assuming that there is no problem with the engine creating vacuum, there is either a vacuum leak in the vacuum hose to the power brake booster unit, the check valve between the power brake booster unit and the vacuum hose is leaking, or the brake power booster unit needs to be replaced.

I took my 1999 olds culass in and had front bakes and rotors put on,they chk my bk brakes and said they were fine now its?

Take it back to him and have him check that the callipers are free to move on the on the mounting bolts. They do rust up and during the inspection there is probably extra pressure on one side of the disc rotor because the callipers are not allowed to centralise themselves.

Why is it so hard to apply brake pedal?

_______power brake booster, check vacuum to booster and the check valve for brake booster. primary symtom is high hard pedal that requires greater then normal pedal pressure to stop car. testing booster= pump brakes several times with engine off to deplete stored vacuum. turn on engine with pushing slightly on brake pedal. you should be able to feel the pedal fade away a bit, and then become firm. But not hard. if you feel nothing at the pedal when engine starts. Brake booster is not working. Good-day! make sure vacuum is going to booster with engine running. it may just be a bad vacuum line or check valve.

My breaks on my 2001 dodge intrepid are hissing what could this be?

Hi Melissa, I'm glad to help. Intrepids were bad about the brake booster seal allowing a vacuum leak when the brakes are applied, If the brakes are real hard to push and its not stopping properly you'll need a new brake booster. However, if its only hissing but stopping properly and you can live with the noise its not affecting your brakes at this time. Hope this helps and have an awesome day Melissa.

My brakes feel like they arent going to stop.

This is most dangerous for you. I think that your power brake boost has failed, possibly due to a split vacuum hose. You can test this...
With the engine off, pump the brake pedal hard a few times. Then press down hard on the pedal and start the engine. You should feel the pedal sink perceptibly under your foot.
If this seems OK then your brake pads may be down to the metal on one or more wheels even though you here no noise. Remove the front wheels and have a look, as on p22 here (a later model).

If the pedal feels spongy underfoot, and you can get better brakes by pumping the pedal vigorously, then there is air in the brake system, and it will need to be bled, as on p9

My 99 accord's wheel squeals while driving but stops as soon as i press the brakes. Sometimes the noise will stop after driving a few miles but other times it wont make the noise at all.

have your brake pads checked out, often they are so close to finnished that they make a noise when not applied, as soon as you apply them they press on the last bit of padding left and the noise goes away.

Brakes new but still make a rubbing noise

Some brake pads have a small pin sticking up for the e brake that pad must be on the outside when not installed for the e brake or the caliper will not push it out straight. Remove the pads and check for wear on the caliper face and make sure you have them installed correctly I put a pad in backwards once it worked but made a noise

Whistling noise when applying brakes

I HAD THE SAME ISSUE ON MY 1999, IT WAS THE SEAL IN THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND YOU MIGHT AS WELL START LOOKING TO HAVE IT REPLACED NOW. EVENTUALLY THE SEAL WILL GIVE COMPLETELY AND BRAKING WILL BE VERY HARD. IF YOU ARE HANDY UNDER THE HOOD YOU CAN TRY IT YOURSELF BUT YOU HAVE TO REMOVE A LOT OF COMPONENTS JUST TO BE ABLE TO ACCESS THE BOOSTER. VERY TIME CONSUMING.
