No you don't have to have them. Most newer cars come with them, because the manufacturer claims they won't need changed for 100,000 miles.

ABSOLUTELY NO!!! But I do recommend them...they pay for themselves in improved gas milage. You can use any plug brand you like as long as made for your vehicle.

My 2003 Mazda protege5 hatchback started shaking at a low speed. Also the engine light keeps flashing. What could this be? Can anyone help?

Engine light usually flashes because you have a miss fire in one or more of the cylinders. Change spark plugs and only use what came from factory( platium, double platium etc.... NGK) This can also destroy your cat. converter.

I have a 2003 gmc sierra 4.3 was losing spark at idle, tested all modules and cks cms replaced cms in dist still nothing moved through ign module, cks changed as well as coil. still no spaqrk checked fuses...

You may have figured this out already, but I gapped my plugs at gm specs and found out that they changed the plug # and I regapped at 0.40 instead of 0.60 and car ran fine. code finder displayed misfire prior to regapping. Check with Auto parts when buying plugs for car / truck and also make sure that they did not change plug # . These were platium plugs. springfield

What is your view on useing "Iridum" or "E3" spark plugs in 1985Dodge Ramcharger 360 4bl 4x4 and 1995Dodge Dakota 318 4x4.

Iridium are a long lasting plug, that is the only benefit. If it doesn`t call for a platium plug, you don`t need them, but the regular platium plug do perfomr well, better than a regular plug, but double platium is need less also.

I'm trying to locate the spark plugs in my suzuki 2008 sx4.

You remove the rectangular plastic cover on top of the engine(2 screws), under that is the plug wires and spark plugs. Pull wires straight up, remove plugs with proper spark plug socket, extension and ratchet, reverse to install.

Platinum plugs are not required but will allow longer change intervals. Check the gap but do not gap them, if they are not properly gapped. Bring them back and asked for new ones.

The metal's on the Platium plugs are harder then copper plugs and can break upon trying or break in your cylinder when in uses.

Good luck and hope this helps
