Hi! Have you replaced the pressure plate? You may need to replace it to get rid of the gearing issue. Hope this helps and have a good one!

Just a thought? Was the clutch assembly installed properly and centered? If so, I believe that it should be fine. Another thing, Have you replaced the transmission support lately? It could make a noise during take off specially when rubbers are worn resulting to metal to metal contact. Have a good look on the transmission support and it may be it.

Sounds as if forward driving gears are shot. Different gears make vehicle move in reverse. I would ask if transmission fluid level when checked is in the operation range or full.

I have a 95 Honda Civic and my car occasionally has trouble shifting from 1st to 2nd gear and sometimes 2nd to 3rd gear. When this occurs, I start to decelerate so I let my foot off the gas and put it back...

Is your problem a grinding of gears? If so, sounds like synchronizers in the transmission going bad. As for the coolant on the passenger side floorboard, hate to say it, but classic tell-tale sign of a bad heater core.

the synchros are not DIY, when they start to go it will grind when the RPMs are higher like getting on a highway, you can try double clutching and see if that helps.

1998 Dodge Grand Caravan will not shif into 2nd

Most likely the second gear section of the transmission has gone bad. There are 3 or 4 different gear sections or assemblies in an automatic transmission, when they go bad, they go bad.

Bad syncro for third gear. Sorry, but you aren't fixing this one yourself, unless you replace the transmission yourself.

More than likely the synchronizers are going out, they allow you to move from gear to gear without damaging transmission.

VW Golf 3 jumping out of gears

Sounds like a stripped reverse gear. And for the second gear probally need a new gear (1st 2nd) and the syncros with a new hub. If too much metal from the gears has already made it's way around in the bearings through the transmission oil you might be looking at a new transmission. The Golf 3 generation had many problems with reverse gears. Sorry to be the one to tell you.
