Question about 1995 Nissan Maxima

Car run hot possible radiator got a hole and/or water pump coing bad.put water in it...water blows back at you.change thermo stat.

It cant be hot when you do it . you have to start the filling prosess when its cool.you will get a air pocket that wont go away. air pocket causes steam. you have to fill as the car warms up.

Might want to also check your actuator. You can also check by touch, both heater hoses that go into the vehicle by the firewall. If they are both hot, you know that warm water is circulating. If, however, only one hose is hot, then you might have a clogged heater core or bad thermo-stat. To confirm a bad T-stat, touch both upper and lower radiator hoses which should be hot. If only one hot, you have a bad component.

My 99 Pontiac Montana Keeps running Hot.I replace the thermostat , Coolant Sensor..Is It possible that the water pump Is Bad?


The radiator may be plugged or the head gasket can let compression gasses into the radiator . To check, run the engine without the radiator cap and look in to see if there any bubbles in the coolant. If there is a lot of coolant moving in the radiator after the T/stat has opened, the water pump is ok. If not then suspect the water pump is not circulating enough water.

My 2000 Jeep G Cherokee, 4.0L, 2wd ran hot during the drive home...it clattered a little but did not shut off...after getting it home I discovered that the coolant bottle cap had been blown off and there...


The water will keep blowing out this it common on this motor the cylinders compression pushes air into water jacket forcing it back out most likely it is gasket or warped head but there is a reason for this weather it water pump thermostat or cracked radiator

Sounds like head gasket has gone. Hot gas from the fuel combustion is being forced through holes in the head gasket into the cooling system, causing hot bubbles in the coolant, sniff the bubbles blowing out of the reservoir, does it smell like fuel?

I have replaced the radiator and water pump (which is the correct pump). Put two mini fans on the front of the radiator. Took out the thermostat and it still runs hot.


It will run hotter with no stat,the water goes too fast too get cooled in the rad. Would be better off to try cutting the center out of the old stat and just run the "restrictor" . If it gets hot at hiway speeds,NAPA sells a combustion leak dectector,will let you know if it's a head gasket or not. Just a liquid that changes color if it sees exhaust.

possible head gasket failure or cracked head. Check for water in exhaust to confirm. Remove/inspect spark plugs for water/coolant.

I have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a V8. I


Water pump would never do that. pump either works or doesn't. You should have no heat 'till the engine is warmed up. Engine heats the water. If it was doing this before you changed the thermostat then the old one may have been bad. However, at this point, Id be looking to see if you have it installed with the spring end towards the engine, if the electric fans are coming on and if the radiator is internally obstructed and not flowing properly. You need to re-fill the system with the heat on full hot and the fill cap off to ensure that air purges from the system. If equipped with air bleeds, use them as well. One trick I use to prevent air binding is to warm up the engine to the point that the temperature is just below where it normally runs at. Turn the engine off and wait about three minutes for the stat to open and then begin filling slowly till it's full.(running) Used to be you could check radiator flow by putting your hand on it in different spots when hot. Cold spots would be where flow is restricted. Today radiators are not easily reached but most good shops use a heat sensing gun to check this. If your radiator fills through a cap on the radiator if you need to dribble coolant in or it backs up, that is a good indication that the radiator is obstructed as well (providing t stat is working.)

Dashboard overheat warning light blinks continuously after 5-mi


It is not the thermostat since it only overheat on stop n go situation. Most likely cause is a bad radiator fan. Turn on the AC and see if both the radiator, and the condenser fan works. They should both be working when the AC is turned on. Lets stick to this for now. Let me know what happened. I don't want to confuse you with too many possiblity.
