Milage to change spark plugs

If you have an old points distributor around 25.000miles If you have a ECM controlled engine then unless it shows a misfire in the fault codes forget about changing them. The reasoning is simple . In the old system the maximum current /voltage was 16.000volts which produced an arc that jumped across the electrodes of the plug. This acted as an arc welder and eroded the centre electrode.
In modern ECM cars the voltage generated is over 60.000 volts and so the current is less than 5 amps so there is no arc welding process hence no loss of centre electrode.
Modern cars like Mitsubishi with a V6 engine have the rear 3 plugs so positioned that changing the plugs is a very long and costly job, so they used platinum plugs in the rear bank and cheapies in the accessible bank . The rear plugs will last longer than the engine . HT leads are a different matter

Mazda 6... its been missing out. loss of power.previosly the 5th cylinder hasnt been hitting..

Not sure what year of you Mazda, here is the suggestion.
If you still have distributor, then inspect it and the rotor, before rplace spark lupg wire and spark plugs.
If you have distributor less on the late model check the Coil on Plug for each cylinder prior to replace the spark plugs. Good luck.

Intermittent misfiring

Had the same thing. The didtributor was going bad. Lived with it for a few months finally it died. 1 year after replacing the distributor the problem started again. Glad I got a warranty on the distributor. Running great now on the second distributor.

1990 Nissan Stanza 2.4 Liter Engine miss. This is a used car we just bought, has 112,000 miles on it and it only happens when I put the transmission in drive or reverse. It does not happen when in park....

could just need a tune up,you could also pull of the distributor cap and look for oil intrusion, if there is you will need to replace the distributor

Power Loss

hay I had the same issue it heated up quick and got too hot, the problem is that the thermostat can wear out and restrict the circulation of the coolant. an easy fix just get the bugger taken out no need to replace it and it will run just fine

1997 Honda Civic EX power loss

start with the easy stuff. check the plugs. make sure they are not wet with oil leaking from the spark plug stem seals located on the rocker cover. Check your air filter to make sure its clean. Now for the slightly harder stuff. The spark plug wires should be changed every 80k or so. My suspect the reason for the power loss is most likely a clogged cat convert in the exhaust system. check your exhaust flow. Way to do that is to check the temp. of the exhaust before the cat and the temp. after the cat. If the Cat is plugged the temp before the catalytic converter will be abnormally higher than after the cat.

BUT if you are experiencing misfire of engine. I would go straight to replacing spark plugs and wires. Distributor cap and rotor.

Also check the charging system. make sure the alternator is charging the battery at above 13Volts. With all components on. ( radio/lights/highbeam/AC). Use a voltmeter and check at the battery positive and negative. if its not charging above 13 V replace the alternator.

good luck

2000 nissan xterra wont start but will crankover

my truck didn't do the crazy idling so much but it was running a little rough before it finnally died. it just wouldn't start back up. i changed the fuel filter i could hear the fuel pump working i finnally pulled a spark plug out and realized it wasn't getting spark. after hooking a computer module up under the dash it told me that the camshaft position sensor was out. the sensor is integrated into the distributor therefore you have to change the distributor to replace the sensor. hope this helps some, i'm actually trying to fix mine tomarrow
