1989 nissan pathfinder v6. I have been fighting

1989 nissan pathfinder v6. I have been fighting erratic idling between 1000-1500 rpms. doesnt ever die, but it is starting to cut out while driving freeway speeds. I constantly smell gas when i open the hood and i dont have a fuel leak. Exaust smells really weird. burning a lil water through exaust but not much. maybe head gasket? No vaccuum leaks, i have repaced every hose one at a time. EGR works fine, would really like to find a vaccuum diagram as mine isnt under my hood havent had power for the last few miles since tune up, timing is right on still. new fuel filter. Any tips would be greatly appreciated..

If your burning any kind of water then thats your probem.you put water with fire or electric what do you get. also if your smelling gas that can be the map sensor.it mesures the mixture and air.it also compensates the mixture when the motor is running like **** because of water in the cylinders or intake manifold. head gasked yes or intake gasket.

How do you adjust the idle on a '04 Nissan Pathfinder 3.5L V6

The idle is not adjustable, it is computer controlled and no adjustment is provided for. If the idle is to high or to low you have a problem and need the dealer to diagnose and repair it.

I have a 99 pathfinder v6 and when i start it it idles fine but when i put into gear the engine dies...

You may have a dirty throtlebody or a bad idle air control valve, start by cleaning throtlebody with an old tooth brush and some cleaner for the throtlebody then if it still stalls replace the idle air control valve. you can also have the computer scanned for codes the computer will store a code when the engine doesnt run wwithin specs, for example there may be a code for the idle air valve. you can go to any auto part store and they will scan the computer at no charge.

Have you checked fuel pressure at idle and 3k TO 4K RPMS? I once took a crown vic to a local dealer, wanted $1500 for new cats. I did a fuel pressure test, 15 lbs at idle, 0-5 at 3K RPMS and went to 0 lbs. when punched accelerator. Was a $6 fuel filter.

My V6 1992 PATHFINDER IDLES RICH AND SURGES AT IDLE.

You need to Replace your Gas Cap. The Seal is worn and it is allowing Air to get inside the Fuel tank Causing your Rough Idle.
