My mr2 is idling too fast.i have tried all the obviousadjustments.is there some secret formula or adjustment screw im missing?i cleaned the throttlebody & the iac. adjusted the tps etc. any ideas?


Check all the small vacuum hoses for leakage or loos fit, check for damaged or broken air intake hose. Check if there is anything loos between throttle body and cylinder head, like broken gasket, craks or so. Idling is adjusted by the ECU and there are no screws anywhere. In most cases, lost vacuum is the reason for high rpm at idling. In some cases it's possible that an O2-Sensor or the cat is bad, and the ECU tries to adjust but get the wrong signals.

When AC is on it blows out the vents until I put my foot on the gas. While Im pressing the gas it comes out the defrost vents then take foot off and it comes out regular vents! Any ideas??


When the gas petal is pushed down the engine needs a amount of vacum to run.If there is not enough vacum it will pull vacum off heater/ac box inside which controls where the ai flow is controled.Check intake for vaccum leaks,hoses,connections.look for vaccum lost.

I have a 87 ford mustang 2.3 . The air conditioner will stop blowing from normal vents and blow from defroster vent. After a few minutes, it blows from the ac vents again.


There is a vacume hose going from the intake manifold to the passenger compartment. This hose has a check valve and a vacume resivore. When you steap on the gas the manifold vacume drops and the a/c goes to the default mode (defrost). The hose is small like a ball point pen's ink tube. sometimes the hose rots and leaks.

your flood doors are locked, cable actuated or electronic actuated if car has electronic climate control. solution replace flood door cables and make sure no dirt or debris is causing them the stick.

Ac controls will not change from the defrost position to anything else


Check for a vacum hose under the hood on the driver side, the hose will be going into the fire wall, could have come disconnected, check for vacum and repair as needed.

check for a vacume leak. Im not 100% shure on your vehicle but the acuators for the ac and heater are vaccume controlled. could be as simple as a hose slid off.

Ac compreser will not turn on


fix the vacum leak unfortunatly there are a pile of vacum hoses in the eng compartment so giving you an answer as to whats leaking is impossable. That being said the ac system is a balenced system too much pressure or to little and the ac clutch on the motor wont engage to circulate the freon or coolent. If the clutch clicks on and off or dosent pick at all usually its a coolent presure problem to low to high or a blockage any ac service station will be able to hook it up and give you an answer in 30 min or less shouldent cost more than 75 bucks to at the very least fix the vacume leak and get a bead on the ac issue good luck
