Congratulations on owning one of Americas great Icons - This model as you know I am sure was featured in the Smokey and the Bandit films. Check your VIN - they found one just sitting in a guys yard not too many months ago.

As for the transmission - YES they will match and you can even add a 'shift kit' for harder feeling shifts. Let's see some pictures of the finished product too.
Best of luck on your project.

98 5.7 4x4 trans shifts hard from 1st to 2nd and

This is most likely the first signs of transmission failure. There's not much you can do aside from getting it rebuilt. This should be a 700 R4 they're a pretty easy transmission to rebuild, however you want to do it sooner than later. Many of the parts can be re-used IF you don't let it go too long. I've rebuilt hundreds of these and I'm here to tell you that I'd rather not destroy 500-600 dollars worth of hard parts if I don't have to.

Transmition shifting too soon

Trans is likely a 700-R4 and the TV (Throttle Valve) cable needs adjustment. Most transmission shops will do this at no charge.

4L60E wont shift passed 2nd

The 4L60 E is a newer version of the 700 r4. These have a detent cable running from the trans to the intake as im sure you noticed installing the trans. This cable must be readjusted in order for proper shifting. There is a large half moon looking button you must push in on the intake end of the cable, and then a sliding tab that looks kind of like a nipple on that same end. This is called the slider. Press in on the large button and push the slider back tword the cable casing. Once this is done get in the car and push the gas all the way to the floor. This will set the correct position. Hope that does it.

1991 Chevy Corvette Hard shift at warm up. 1 and 2

I assume you have a 700 R4 trans. Check your throttle linkage. Sounds like it's out of adjustment, maybe loose in the holding bracket.

Can't get low gear

if memmory serves me correct its been a while since last tranny rebuild and adjustment
on a 700-r4 type transmission
make sure that the shim kit was used properly with this transmission cause wrong sized length of linkage can make the trans. shift improperly
you have the linkage under neith adjusted wrong the shift bar on tranny should face 90 degrees up towards front of vehicle engine for proper adjustment
