IN THIS MODEL YOU HAVE THE OPTION TO CHANGE TRANSMISSION PERFORMANCE FROM
POWER TO NORMAL.

WHEN PRESSED ON (GREEN LIGHT ON ) THE SHIFT PATERN CHANGES , LATER SHIFT TO CHANGE TORQUE BAND , GREATER PERFORMANCE.

WHEN DEPRESSED THIS MODE CHANGES TO NORMAL SHIFTING PATERN ALLOWING YOU TO DRIVE YOURS VEHICLE IN A MORE ECONOMICAL. WAY.
SHIFTING CHANCES SOONER.. INTURN USING LESS ENERGY

THERE IS A TRADE OFF WITH HAVING GET UP AND GO OR TO SAVE MONEY ON FUEL
YOU HAVE A CHOICE.

TO TRUELY TEST GAS MILEAGE DRIVE VEHICLE ON FULL TANK ( RECORD THE AMOUNT OF FUEL YOU ADDED.) THEN RESET TRIP ODOMETER. OR WRITE DOWN KM/ML.
DO THIS FOR POWER MODE ( ONE FULL TANK)
DO THIS FOR NORMAL TRANSMODE(DEPRESSED)
REGULAR MAINTANCE IS KEY ( OIL CHANCE , TUNE UPS( SPARK PLUGS , EFI CLEANERS.AIR TRANS FLUSH.
FROM MY EXPERIENCE I ALWAYS BUY MY FUEL AT SAME STORE.
GOOD LUCK HOPE THIS HELPS

What is ect prw mean?

ECT is electronic control transmission. You can turn it off and on. PWR changes the shift points.

What does it mean when the green pwr light comes on?

I assume you mean the "ect power " light. This means the trans computer will hold each gear a little longer before changing down. It is turned on and off by a button on the console

What does ECT PWR green light on dash mean? It just popped up at 160k

Hello. Welcome to FixYa. Please allow us to assist you.

The ECT PWR light is on because someone has inadvertantly bumped the switch. Look on the console, by the shifter, or on the dash for a switch labeled ECT. Turn it off, and the light will go out.

The ECT PWR mode, when activated, increases the time that the transmission shifts up thru the gears. Without the mode selected, the first shift would be at 18-20 mph. With the mode selected, the first shift would be 20-22 mph. This mode basically allows the shift to occur later, and is normally used when you are towing something, or if you have a large load of cargo in the car.

Thanks for choosing FixYa for assistance. Have a great day.

A green light came on "ECT PWR", what does that mean?

It means Electronically Controlled Transmission.

Basically in the older models there is an option to turn ECT on which allows for better acceleration as it's controlled electronically.

Hope help with this.

What is the ECT power button for on the 1997 rav4

The ECT button (which stands for "Electronically Controlled Transmission")
changes the shift points for the automatic transmission. When engaged,
the transmission shifts later, allowing the engine to get to a higher
power level and accelerate faster. Gas mileage is usually reduced in
this mode. Use it when you need to get up to speed faster; for example,
to merge into fast moving traffic. The normal position for this switch
is OFF. ECT acts like a turbo. Now dont go on street racing ;)

Toyota RAV4 1998.ECT PWR green sign is on at all times, engine studders since start on parking on 500RPMS instead of "normal 1000 RPM's

Gren light is never a warning , I think it's related to trany mode. You probably accidently push ed botton for transmission mode selector.
Regarding RPM it may be separate issue.

Green light ext pwr

The ECT/power light is controlled by the ECT switch on the console. WHat it does is stretches the shift point from 1-2 and 2-3 when you are carrying a large load, or towing something. For maximum fuel economy, the light should be switched off.
