Guess what your 1986 fuel tank has an electric fuel pump and with the carberated engine and mechanical fuel pump it is trying to draw fuel through the pump that is in the tank. You need to remove the tank and replace the fuel pick up tube with one for a carberated s-10. Youmay be able to make one just be careful. Gasoline is very flamable

The needle valve wont allow fuel to come into the carberator

Replace the needle and seat with the proper one. OR / check to see that the float is not jammed up in the carb body. You can also tap gently on the float bowl and see if this dislodges the float. You might make sure that the fuel pump is pumping fuel to the carb . Hope this helps

What do u all change swapping from a throttle body engine to a carberated engine in a1990 chevy truck

Going to a carb. engine is a lot simpler then the other way around. The engine with the carb on it also has a mechanical fuel pump.Take the gas line from the tank (the delivery line not the return line) cut it and install it on the mechanical pump. block the return line. Kill the power to the pump in the tank. Change the gas cap use one from a carb engine (if you don't you could create a vacuum in the tank and stop the flow of gas. You shouldn't have to do anything else with the tank the mechanical pump should pull the gas through the pump in the tank if not then you will have to r and r the tank pull out the pump and replace it with a piece of hose going to the bottom of the tank. Next tie back the wiring for the fuel injector system and any other wire pertaining to fuel injection. You should be good to go. Your on-board computer is going to have problems because it no longer receives signals from the 02 sensor but just pull the bulb or put some tape over it.

1985 chevy blazer s10, replaced mechanical fuel pump, still not gettin fuel to carberator

I have a 1984 S-10 Blazer since it was new
almost 29 years ago

Explain how a new fuel pump doesn't work

I only had that once on my 1965 corvette
A new pump had been assembled with the
diaphragm outside on a couple holes,a quick fix

You must have fuel to the carb & thus you need
to take the carb apart & work on that

So far I found that NAPA is the only source for
a carb kit

I have a 1986 chevy K10 350 carberated that has a fuel line problem from the mechanical fuel pump up to the carb. its not pumping any fuel up to it, i've replaced the mechanical fuel pump and the

By automatic I'm assuming you mean electric. Are the hoses still plumbed into this pump and then to the mechanical pump? If so, disconnect from the electric pump and plumb together with a barbed fitting. It's a possibility that the electric pump is locked up and the mechanical pump can't pull fuel through it. Also, is the mechanical pump actuator rod in place behind the pump? This rides on the cam to actuate the pump.

Is there a fuel pump cutoff switch on the 1989 ciera that can be reset or if the pump cannot be heard clicking in the tank is that the ?

fuel pump is in the tank & can be heard for 2 seconds when key is turned on. there is no
reset but by listening at gas cap you can hear if pump runs or not. spray carberator cleaner in
throtle body(carberator) to see if it helps with starting. there is a test port to check fuel pressure if you think its a fuel problem & carb cleaner helps it start

The car put putts like its out of gas but i just filled her up. one said it may be a fuel pump but i think its the carberator can someone help?

Easiest way is to check the carb. Sometimes things in there can get a little gunky and will restrict the flow of fuel to the engine. If everything is clean in the carb, then yes, it is the fuel pump.

Engine cuts out like it cant get gas when accelerating, sometimes when at driving speed the car cant get gas , then after a min it runs fine , also trouble starting like it cant get gas...i dont smell...

Depending on year. I would check cheap things first. First check lines for leaks. Replace Fuel Filter with new one. If fuel injected? have fuel injectors checked. If Carberator? Check for Vacuum leaks around the throttle body, Check Intake, and carb itself for leaks. Now i would go ahead and check the Fuel pump. If Injectors? Have the fuel pressure checked. If Carb? Try a new Pump.
You didn't specify what year and model or what engine. So It's kinda hrd to figure it out. but i gave you the basics for all engines.

85 Yota pick-up, Ultra High and Low Idle, now no start

mcdevito75 here, Could be a dirty fuel fliter, remove fuel inlet toarb, crank engine but don"t start, container of 1 pint of gas should pump out from detached carb. fuel inlet, if not replace fuel pump. Very high idle and very low idle could also be a major vacumn leak, check all vacumn hoses, also check intake manifold, spray soapy water around intake manifold try to start, if you see water sucked in or engine now starts, there"s your problem, a vacumn leak.
