Engine bucks and hesitates after first started

I have smallest V-8. Tune up did not fix the problem. Injector cleaner and fuel filter replacement no help either. Hesitation and bucking lasts one or two minutes, and it appears to go away as the engine starts to heat up. I live in North Dakota, and interestingly it does the same thing summer or winter. The condition seems to slowly get a little worse. Thanks for any help.

remove and clean carbon from idle control valve, it may be sticking, and also check fuel filter for clogging up. as for the injectors a good injector cleaner used often, usually helps quite a bit. I own a 2000 malibu and it idles at 700 to 750 rpms. 3.1 v6. the dealers want to rip people off! thats my opinion. good-luck!! add injector cleaner at least once a month.

When car is sitting idle; I hear the hesitation. When foot is on the brake the hesitation and little jurking is very noticable; but it doesn't cut off nor does any lights come on the panel. Could it be bad...

It could be the fuel, especially these days with the different suppliers and additives, not to mention the extreme moisture in the air & seeping into the fuel tanks at local stations.

If you know your car doesn't need a standard tune up, the air-filter, fuel filter, and spark plugs have been maintained and are working properly you may just need to have the injectors cleaned, or use a little fuel injector cleaner every few tanks of gas to clean them up.

I always fill my fuel filter & those I'm servicing with fuel injector cleaner when I replace them. (1/2 full) This has seemed to provide ample cleaning for most as I've never had an injector issue return to me.

Try some regular fuel injector cleaner available at wal-mart or any parts store. Not the expensive bottle that claims it will make your car perfect just the regular 2.99 a bottle stuff. When your car is at about 1/2 tank on the fuel gauge, add a bottle & drive that tank to 1/8. After refilling later & getting down to about 1/2 tank add another bottle. This should do some good if you're talking about hesitation & minor idle changes that don't trigger sensor problems.

Of course if any of the parts mentioned need to be replaced, this would be the time.

good luck

Decreased acceleration, slow take off

If no codes or check engine light, then I'd start by changing fuel filter. When was tune-up, & filters changed last?

Hesitation on acceleration

Try giving it a tune up. It could be a faulty plug wire, spark plug, clogged air filter or clogged fuel filter.
Other possibities could include bad gasoline or a clogged fuel injector. If the tune up doesn't try adding fuel injector cleaner and octane boost to the gas.

2000 toyota camry 2.2 sat up for a few months ran fine now all of the sudden it bucks and sometimes you can push the pedal to the floor and it won't go over 25 or 30 mph. Already replace the fuel filter....

Hello, a few questions ok. Have you replaced the old fuel that was in your tank? Next, I would consider doing a good tune up and lubrication of your chassis. Spark plugs and wires, air filter, oil filter and change, distributor cap and rotary button. I would also consider running some fuel injector cleaner through your system as well becuase your injectors may have dirt in them or rust which may have came from your car sitting and the water in the gas rusting your tank and then sending it through your system. So in general just do a good tune up, replace the gas and add some injector cleaner, and I would also make sure to check that none of your brakes are grabbing. I hope this fixes your problem.

Poor gas mileage

Well,

I would start with a tune up, Spark plugs , wires , new fuel filter. Then check fuel mileage . The tires believe it or not have to have correct air priessure , This also is a factor in fuel economy.
If the fuel ecomony does not get better then you should have the fuel system check. The fuel pump could be weak pressure or a throttle body cleaning service should be performed.
The next step after this would be the fuel injector replacement. Now your are talking a investing a few bucks into the car. The most cost effective is to start with a tune up and fuel injector cleaner in the fuel tank, You can pick up the parts at your local auto parts store.

Bucking, slow acceleration, & shuts off

it can be couple of thing Try a fuel injector cleaner or new fuel injectors.it can be vacuum leak. Engines need a vacuum to run especially at idle which is when your car dies. It could be a stuck EGR.
If the check engine light comes on it will store a code so take it to a shop and pay them to read the codes. This may give you a starting point.
