Don't do it. I tried that stuff once 35 years ago , and I walked home. I will never use it again. The engine blew up and I blame that stuff. Whatever it was, It didn't fix it. NO, the engine was destined to blow anyway. ,,,, I don't know if would reach the heater core. They are usually replaced, but they usually don't leak. Is it a leak only when the ac is on or heat? If it is just the ac, check the drain line on the firewall, it might be stopped up. Check it out.

Barrs Leak will work but add this chemical very slowly. Also add it to a warm engine, not cold. This stuff will clog up if cold

Vapor comeing out of vents with heater turned off. smells like coolant not leaking on floor and not fogging windows up like when my heater core went bad 3 years ago and had it replaced.

Sounds like you have a small leak in the heater core. this is a small radiator that fits in the heating system to provide the heat in winter. It is an extension of the cooling system and therefore has antifreeze in the core. You may just have a hose leaking a tiny bit around the connetion.

Have no heat in my 1994 Cevrolette Caprice Classic LS. Had radiator leak, used Bardahl Stop Leak. Engine not getting fully warm. Changed thermostat to fix that. Also noticed AC compressor not kicking in on...

A few things you may try before the expense of a heater core, and the labor putting another one in.
First, I just want to mention I have used Bardahl stop leak, and it worked very well for me, It's a good product. Also, you're right, the a/c commpressor is a seperate issue.

Now, you mentioned you changed the thermostat, the following test is just to make sure it's working properly, and to check the coolant circulation.

1. With the heater temp and blower off, start your vehicle and let it run 6 to 8 minutes to allow it to reach normal operating temperature. then;
turn your heat temperature and blower wide open, when you do, listen very closely in the engine compartment, you should hear a small click from the thermostat opening up to allow ciculation of the coolant.

2. Turn the engine off. Carefully reach behind the engine, at the fire wall where your inlet and outlet hose, ( both about 1 inch in diameter ),hook up to your heater core. feel each one of the hoses. If both are hot, then your coolant is circualting through the core. If only one of them are hot, then the coolant is being blocked from circulating through the core, and if that is the case I would probably try flushing the whole cooling system first.

I hope this helps.

I have a 1999 jeep grand cheroke my heater core is leaking I try stop leak it doesn't work any other option instead replace my heatercore??

I would just have the heater core replaced. One common theme with all repairs that are temporary, is ... well, "temporary" can mean "all of three seconds". All the stop leak gunk and whatnot will typically block your heater core up, making you replace it anyway if you want heat. Or you could take the heater core out of the loop, get an adaptor and plumb the heater lines together.

Got a problem with the cars heater .i've changed the thermostat flushed out system.some times it acts like it wants to work but most of the time it dont get warm. thought it might be the heater core but...

Sometimes the heater core get stopped up, especially if someone used stop leak in the cooling system. If the heater core stops up then you wont hardly get any heat. There are possibility's to like if the air doors and actuators under the dash, or the heater controls themselves act up. I would pull the two heater core hoses off under the hood and see if water will flow through the heater core. A water hose is good to use for this. If it is stopped up you wont get much flow. If being stopped up turns up to be your problem, then the heater core will have to be replaced to make the heater work like it should.

Problem with the heating. blows cold air most of the time. Engine is not overheating and coolant level is fine.

is the temp hand about middle ways? If not your thermostat could be stuck open or if barrs stop leak has ever been used in it heater core could be stopped up.

Small hole in bottom of radiator drips

There are products out there like stop leak that MIGHT stop the radiator leak. However... the only real repair is either to have it soldered (if the end caps are not plastic) or replace the radiator all together.

Adding a product like "Stop Leak" most often starts to introduce other problems to your vehicle like a future water pump seal failure or clogs in the smaller water passages in the engine block, heads and manifolds and the thermostat heater bypass hole. Anyone that has ever done any major engine repairs will know immediately if stop leak was used in a cooling system.

The best fix is to replace the radiator.

Many radiators today can not be repaired

Stop leak is in most any auto parts store. Just be advised of what you can expect down the road.

specifically

1. warmer than usual engine operating temps
2. water pump seal failure
3. heatrer core clog (no heat)
4. passenger heat control temp valve clog (no heat)
The choice is yours. Personally I would not do the "Stop Leak" treatment attempt. Sometimes it works other times it does not.

I have a leak and the stop leak product i used leak out what should my next step be?

you need to address the location of the leak, stop leak was only for short term repairs, every time you use it, it goes through the entire coolant system, and clocks and small openings it finds, which means the cores in the heater, and radiator, then you'll have more problems

My heater core went out so i replaced it but that didn't fix the heat. its blowing could air. last year it would be hot one minute and warm the next. and the guy that fixed the heater core said it looked...

if the engine is full of stop leak it would over heat not no heat. check the thermostat & make sure it's not stuck open with stop leak. then make sure you bleed all the air from the system.

Good luck.

Prizm overheats, heater core leaks, no heat

You can bypass the core or fix it that's up to you but I would change or remove the thermostat first. If it still overheats then start looking at the water pump and radiator. Hope this helps. Good luck.
