If you punch in 3 consecutively with a wrong code, the EEE message will be displayed. in order to erase this, you need to place your ignition key at # 1 and switch on the radio and leave it at least between 4 to 6 hours. the code display will come back and re-enter the correct code.

Code radio

In the owners maunel you should have a card with the radio code on it.

The radio will only display EEE or OFF when the wrong code has been entered and the radio is locked depending on model - this is due to the battery being disconnected and the incorrect radio code being entered 3 times. You will neet to reset the radio. To do this the radio has to be on for either 2 or 4 hours - see the manual for your model. If you got the code from a card from Volvo, and it didn't work, then the radio has been changed or it has been reset by the dealer and your current code is invalid. You will have to pull the radio and find the serial & model number, and get Volvo to look up the code for that radio or the dealer may be able to lookup the radio code via vin# from Volvo. The dealer can reset the radio and enter a new code. When the radio is "ready" to accept an unlock code the display will say "codE". You will need this code if your battery is ever disconnected.

How to enter my radio code

first, do you have your code? if so, use the digits on the radio and punch in the four digit code and push the auto button. it should come on...if you dont have the code.....write your vin # and call a volvo dealership or volvo mech. and see if they can get the code with that, if not you will have to pull the radio out enough to get the #'s off of it. with the vin and the radio #'s call a dealership or mech. and they can get the code for you

I disconnected my battery on my new (to me) Volvo. It is actually 17 years old. I have the car so I can get the VIN number easy enough. How do I get my radio back on?

sometimes you can call a volvo dealership with the vin and they can get the code for you. I had to give my vin # and pull my radio out enought to get the #'s offf the top of my radio and give both the vin and the radio #'s to get the code. when you get it, use the digits on the radio to punch the four digits and then push auto. the radio should come on.

I don't have the manual for a 2000 volvo s70.

you have to turn the key to position 1 where the radio comes on but not your instrument panel. then leave it on this position for 2 hrs. the word "code" will come on instead of "off".Then you have to put in your 4 digit security code. to obtain this, call a volvo dealer and have them run your vin. they may ask for proof of ownership. if the radio has never been changed out, this will fix it for you! the radio says "code" if the battery was disconnected, and if the wrong code was punched in 3 times, it went to "off" :-) if you have difficulty, email me at savolvo at yahoo directly.
