Question about 1994 Ford F250 Supercab

Open Question

I am working on a 1994 F240 4x4 w/ a 5.8L engine. I have a good wiring diagram but have a few problems with the wiring. At fuse #17, i am reading continuity thru the fuse connections without a fuse being installed. Also both these connections are grounded to the vehicle. Question- am I suppose to have continuity from one end of the fuse connection to the other without a fuse installed? Also. I dont see any grounds that are inline with these wires? Should they be grounded?

SOURCE: Trailer wiring 7 way

dO NOT SPLICE WIRES.. You bought a 45000 dollar truck, spring for a wiring T --25 bucks.. ( plugs between main harness and Tail lights.. ) --Available at most good auto parts.. Painless wiring also has a kit.

If you did already cut or splice into your wires, take that **** loose.. Shrink wrap the dammage.. Silicone over srink wrap.. Wire will corrode.. if you did manage to get spliced wires to work,-- in a few years or sooner you will have issues with the connections..Can you say short circuit.. Moisture and loose connections are a thing of the past with sealed tap in wiring.. Plug and play..

If any of this is over your head, get a friend who knows, or a tech to help.. Don't jerry rig a 45,000 dollar new Truck.. Come ON..!!!!!

SOURCE: 1987 ford Bronco II fuel gage doesn't work-reads empty all time

I need to know if the other gauges are accurate. There is a voltage regulator mounted on the back side of the dash that can go bad and often does, that will make the other gauges inaccurate also.

SOURCE: 2002 Mustang blowing PCM fuses

Ok the 30 amp fuse is the switch side of the PCM relay and the W/BL wire u are disconnecting is the coil side of the relay. So when u disconnect it u are keeping the relay from energizing so this is not the problem. When u unplug the CCRM in the fender u also keep the relay from energizing.
Unfortunatley this could be the worst possible ckt to have a short on because it feeds everything with a 12V feed in the emission system.
It feeds all the coil packs, the coil side of the low and high speed fan relays and coil side of AC relay also in the CCRM.
Now looking at the schematic I think it is possible to narrow your problem down to the coil packs. The other ckts off of this go thru 2 more fuses, fuse 8 and 2 in the interior fuse panel and both of these are 20 amp fuses so they should blow before the 30 amp if the short was after them. Although it could be the CCRM I doubt it would blow the 30 amp fuse because the other feeds there are on the coil side of the relays so that leaves the coil packs.
I would trace the red wire side of each coil pack looking for a pinched wire, they will go back to right side of engine into a square 42 pin connecter.A quick way to test it is to unhook all the coil packs then get you 2 alligator clip wires and a 1157 bulb like in your t/signals. Clip one of the wires on each side of the bulb and hook one wire to power then the other to the red wire pin 24 of the CCRM that u unhooked in the fender(leave CCRM unhooked). Pull the 2 fuses in the interior fuse panel (8&2) then see if your bulb lights. If it does then u have a short in the wiring,if it doesn't then hook each coil pack back up one at a time and see if it lights your bulb.

SOURCE: 1985 Chevy Astro...no power to radio...I checked

Try an alternate ground wire for testing . Ground it to good ground on one end & then attach to body (metal) of radio & see if that works. You know you will have 2 or more power wires to that right? I constant & one switched at least.

2003 jeep wrangler x fuse box diagram

just a flash light and 5min. looking finds 99% bad fuses.
why do you need to know the exact one?
here is the full FSM> see wiper wiring, its fuse #17 runs the front.
it runs the waster too, so if that works its not Fuse 17.
or any fuse ,.

17 is marked FRT WIPE

see power distrubution page 3. top left corner fuse.
if the fuse is good we use a voltmeter to find out what really is bad.
ask.

Darn power windows

Other than buying a vehicle new or used from a dealer,
I certainly would never go to one for service
Have you no local shop you have used for decades,
that does good work & for less than a dealer
All you need is a wiring diagram & walk down the problem
with your volt meter.

sounds like you have a bear wire somewhere that if it rains or snows or wire could be wet,or loose but stays connected enough to stay charged..wiring is fautly somwhere.its not grounding out so you will not blow fuses.check for loose or corrode wires

My headlights, horn, panel lights, electric door locks, and radio quit working, all at the same time.

  • JUST WENT THROUGHT THIS WITH MY DAUGHTERS CAR!! WOW WAS GONNA RIP EVERYTHING OUT , I CHECKED FUES!! ALL GOOD, SHE AHD NO HEADLIGHTS, TAIL LIGHTS, POWER LOCKS, RADIO OR BRAKE LIGHT OR HORN, SO I GOT TO THINKING THAT THIS JUST CANT BE A BAD GROUND, BUT DIDNT SEEM RIGHT. SO I GOT A BOOK TO LOOK AT THE WIRING, ACTUALLY I USED THE 1994 VERSION AND IN THAT THERE ARE 2 POSITIVE WIRES COMING FROM THE BATTERY, WELL ONE GOES TO STARTER AND FUSIABLE LINKS THE OTHER GOES TO THE FUSE BOX THAT SUPPLIES POWER TO ALL THAT WE NOT WORKING, WELL FOLLOW THE 2ND POWER LINE FROM THE BATTERY THAT GOES TO FUSE BOX, WELL AS YOU START TO FOLLOW IT THERE IS A PLUG THAT JOINS THE WIRE TO THE WIRE THAT GOES TO FUSE BOX, UNPLUG TURNS HEADLIGHTS ON ANT REPLUG BACK IN. IT WASNT MAKING A CONNECTION ANYMORE!!!

FRED THE REASON I SAID TURN THE LIGHTS ON THEN REPLUG IN , IS THAT YOU WILL SEE THE LIGHTS COME ON AND HEAR THE CHIME OF LEAVING THE LIGHTS ON WHEN YOU PLUG BACK IN. WHEN I LOOKED AT THE DIAGRAM IS WHEN I REALIZED THAT THAT 2ND WIRE SUPPLIED THE POWER TO THE FUSE BOX FUSES THAT IN TURN WOULD OPERATE EVERYTHING THAT WASNT WORKING. WHE YOU UNPLUG THAT PLUG, ITS ABOUT THE SIZE OF YOUR PALM, LOOK AT THE CONTACTS INSIDE AND MAKE SURE THEY ARE NOT CORODE. IF SO BUY SOME CLEANER AND APPLY. I HAD UNPLUGGED THIS PLUG ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO WHEN REPLAVING THE BATTER AND HAD PUT THE GOOP STUFF IN THERE FOR THAT REASON. JUST THINK IF ALL THAT STUFF IS NOT WORKING AND YOUR FUSES ARE GOOD? YOU JUST AINT GETTING POWER TO THE FUSE BOX WHICH THEN THERE IS NO POWER TO EACH ITEM, HOPE THIS HELPS ANY QUESTIONS FEEL FREE, SINCE I SEE THIS IS AA BIG PROBLEM YET NO ONE ANSERED WITHA FIX

1989 toyota land cruiser.driving on highway engine died.turns over good but wont start.has a full tank of gas.put in new battery and altenator a few weeks ago, been running fine.checked the fuses and found...

Hi.

Re:new battery and altenator
If engine turns over battery and altenator are OK.

Re:checked the fuses and found a few were blown.
Effectively those may be symptoms of a wiring problem. If a job had been carried recently, undoing and re-connecting the wires to access the part(eg. alternator) may have contributed to the problem.

Check all fuses, with attention to fuel pump fuse. Check the connectors to fuel pump, eventually read volts at pump and nsure that fuel is circulating
Check air intake and connectors to air intake sensors (MAF sensor), check connection to crank sensor and O2 sensors.

The blown fuses may also have been incidental. If you did not find anything, troubleshooting must proceed as usual, checking distribution, fuel pressure, and then factors that can affect the ignition.

Remember that after a prolonged and failed attempt to crank the vehicle, the cylinders will be flooded and the car will no start (wet plugs- no spark).

Check if there is spark on all cylinders. This can be done removing one by one the spark plugs wires and putting them near to the engine block while someone else try cranking. You will see the spark.
If there is no spark, then you have a coil/distribution problem. test coil by reading volts in and impedance (coil must not be open). I think this engine is not distributorless. Check distributor cap and wires. If you have disconnected spark plug wires after the problem, also ensure that wires are connected in right order.

Once you are sure that there is spark, check fuel delivery and engine control. This part will take longer.

I uploaded here engine control diagrams and other documents that may help.

Regards.

1994 Jeep Cherokee 4.0L AC wiring

Hope you can read it? If not I'll try something else. See the compressor relay, that line with arrowhead is load side of relay, when relay is energized that arrowhead moves to other terminal, that is a fuse protected circuit, goes hot with the key on, underhood fuse box/power distribution center f6--15amp. The left side of relay is control, needs voltage and ground. fuse f5--25 amp interior fuse box and is wired through selection switch. As you can see, the computer grounds control side of relay.
Your second paragraph sounds like a big voltage drop, somewhere, I'd have make sure battery is good and charged up, check battery connections and check your charging system.
