Ts not hard its on top at least. the belt tensioner uses a special tool to release but ive improvised one a few times, the labor rate on that shouldnt be that much so a shop should be considered

Engine not coming up to temp. Looks like a simple job to replace the thermostat. Is it as easy as it looks

Yes, it is a relatively simple job. Make sure you replace your coolant temp sensor at the same time, these usually go out relatively soon after the thermostat. The coolant sensor should have a crush ring under it. Also clean out the thermostat housing if your reusing it, use brake clean or hot soapy water, rinse and dry. Hope this helps!

Tie rods on Volvo C70

Unless you have air tools with and air compressor. Your going to have to pry off those tie rod with a air hammer with a prying fork. It not that expensive. Buy the tie rods yourself so you dont get stiffed and call around for the best deal.

2000 volvo c70 shudder

I can think of a few things that may be happening.
  • The electronic throttle modules (ETM) are problematic. There is a software upgrade that addresses some of the issues, and replacement of the ETM may also be needed. Volvo has an extended warranty on the ETM, so this may be of no charge to you
  • The MAF sensor also fails and causes idle as well as acceleration issues
  • Volvo often comes out with software upgrades for the engine and transmission control modules that address all sorts of issues
  • Also, make sure that the trouble codes are checked and recorded before any work is done
  • Check the transmission fluid and flush the entire system if the fluid is dark or has a burnt smell
Good Luck,

1998 volvo c70 drivers side, window winder mechanism (cable) snapped. have been told have to buy motor and everything that goes with it to fix. how do i replace it?

I have replaced many of these, and it is a very difficult job. There are many steps you need to take as you are removing and re-installing the new window regulator that are crucial for a properly adjusted and operable window. Find someone who has experience replacing these or you will have wind and water leaks, and the door will not open or close like it should. Sorry to be a downer, but this is the reality of your situation.
