Oil light has been comming off and on for a few days. check oil levels they are fine. noise like a dddddddd and happens more when push on gas. Mechanic said the engine was not getting any oil pressure, he did not work on engines and said to buy a new engine or new car. My concern is he only looked at it for 15 min, and did not work on engines. should I get a 2nd opnion, get the oil changed to see if it that or just look for new car. If it can be fixed for under 300 thats great.

-check the oil pressure switch, maybe loose connection or bad connection. -Bad oil pressure switch, -Bad oil pump. all these things can cause the oil light to turn on. Hope this can help.

Those cars are known for intake gasket leak and if it leak, the coolant will some time leak into the engine oil. when the water and oil mix the valve lifter will colapse then there is noise.
yes, you need to get another opinion to see if there is just the valve lifters. good luck!

My car is a 2006 Suzuki forenza manual with 67k miles on it. It just had an oil change a few months ago with a new filter as well. I didn't drive the car for a few days while the temperature was...

Suzuki should have stayed with just motorcycles. Anyway, You just had the oil changed. Check and see if they changed the filter also. They may have forgot or were just to lazy. Just a chance the oil filter is bad, I would replace it again(is the oil clean on the dipstick?). Add a higher viscosity oil. At 67,000 miles, you would have to drive dirt roads all the time, with no air filter to get sludge to clog the head ports. Which is slow drain of oil to the pan. The oil pump? well it could be, most likely not. I would say the oil sending unit is bad, but the knocking noise kind of throws that off. Knocking is bad, if it happens again, pull off and shut the engine down. One other thing to watch is the temperature gauge. getting really hot will cause knocking. Check coolant level and the thermostat.

High oil warning ml350

Check the oil on the dipstick. If it is high, it may be contaminated with gas or coolant. You can smell if it is gas. If it is coolant, it will look milky brown color. That would point to a head gasket problem.

If the oil looks good and not contaminated, but still high, drain enough out the drain plug until oil is at proper level, or just go ahead and drain all the oil so it can be looked at at for contamination. Because if jiffy lube put too much in, you are right, the light should have come on sooner. The whirring noise could very well be from a high oil level, so look into all possibilities. If oil is not too high, it could be just a sensor problem-but it doesn't sound like it. Good luck.

1984 chevrolet cavalier cs oil pressure warning light on but runs fine and oil level is ok. What could be the problem. Is there a sending unit that can be checked?

if the oil level is good and clean, and there is no noise in the motor then it will be the oil pressure switch that is bad and needs replacing.

On my 93 Dodge Caravan ES 3.3L, when it comes to a stop and idles (at a light mostly) the check gauges light comes on. When the check gauges light comes on the oil gauge is at the bottom. When I tap...

Okay What it means is that the oil in your car is either low in level or the oil pressure at low revolutions is low. I highly recommend you to stop driving the car when this happen because you can internally damage the engine with a low oil or a low pressure of oil. Check the oil level first..make sure level is fine and oil looks good. Black and burned oil will give you a low oil pressure as well. If it happen that your car need a oil change. Make sure you get it done and see if the problem goes away. Very rarely oils pressure sensor goes bad but if oil is new and level is fine you can take the oil pressure sensor and connect a tester for a oil pressure. If this is not under the manufacturer specifications.. oil pump is worn out and you have to replace it for a new one.
Good luck and don't forget to rte me. Thanks

My wife recently had the oil changed in her 2000 nissan altima and the next day it started making really loud knocking noise. my neighbor said he this car a had a "oil baffel" where the oil fill is located...

Most likely not. It can happen if they jammed a rod down there and poked around and did it on purpose.

Most likely you need to check the oil and take it right back to them if it is full or very near full. These places are known for messing up peoples cars after oil changes. I would go by the amount of oil in the car and mileage since the change.
If you only went a few miles say 50 - you should be able to show evidence it was something done or not done by the oil change people. If it is a comparative lot of miles and there are NO LEAKS of any amount much at all you should be able to get something from them if IF -- the oil level is very low or not showing at all.
If you wait 4 hours after driving the car - then
1- go pull the dip stick from the motor and 2
2 without turning the dip stick sideways or upside down
3- check the level and take a video pic if it is lower than 1 quart -
4 - take this to the people who did the oil change and if the level is low - do NOT drive the car without checking to see if the oil change people are stand up people.

Best of it

is it low on oil? if so it could be an internal oil leak (wouldn't be able to see) or external but you didn't say anything about that... if level is good replave the oil pressure sensor
