Question about 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

I just replaced my battery about a month ago but just now my jeep will not turnover. All other battery operated aspects work. Could it be the 20A fuse for ignition that may have gone bad?

Intermittently, my car won't attempt to even turnover

most likely its a starter motor showing its first signs of going bad , as it's Russian roulette whether the motor stops on the bad spot in starter motor or not

eventually it will cease to work at all but could go for months that way

especially if its the original starter from 2003 (think how many times its started the car since then)

Corrosion, you may also have a DRAIN on the Battery from the RADIO, or a few other circuits that could have remained open. You need to put a Multimeter on it and see where the draw and pull the Fuse for each to determine where the Draw is coming from

It could be the Crank Position Sensor. But that just a guess. BUT.... they are common to go bad, buy one from the dealer, most aftermarket parts (non dealer) are not good.

My jeep has a slow turnover when it is cranked it didnt star untill this cold weather

Could be the starter but most likely the battery is the problem. You can confirm the problem by boosting the vehicle,if it starts normally replace the starter if not replace the battery.

2003 jeep grand cherokee radiator fan doesn't turn on

Disconnect the fan plug and hot wire it to the battery if the fan dosen't run, replace it. Otherwise, check the relay. The system operates by the temp sender sending a signal to the computer that activates the relay that turns the fan on. Fan should also come on with A/C.

2005 Jeep Grand Cherookee sometimes won't start

This could be something simple. Your starter draws far more power than anything except for the a/c clutch (not in play here) Since all accessories are functioning, it's likely that the battery terminals are oxidized. A high-draw item will actually break the connection temporarily. This condition will also change with humidity and temperature. Remove them and use a small wire brush or sandpaper to clean the battery posts and the inside of the connectors on the wires themselves. If you have done this and still have a problem, then you should start looking for other larger problems.
Good luck
