Question about Nissan Pathfinder

1 Answer

I have a Pathfinder 96, auto transmission with a "death wobble" problem. The whole truck start wobbling/ shaking left to right violently with no particular pattern to explain why it does it e.g uneven road or speed.... It only does that only once in a while too. I have to press the brake to stop the wobble. Anyhow, I changed tires on it since they were the wrong side. That didn't fix the problem. Is there a steering wheel stabilizer on that truck and could it the be the issue?

Thanks. Is this a hard job to do myself? How much would that cost otherwise.

Thanks so much! A mechanic wanted to charge me 1100$ for replacing all the controls arms or -I ask how much for just replacing the bushings - 1 hr labor per bushings.... Ridiculous! You save me big time. Exceptional link. Been spending lots of money on wrong diagnosis. 4 thumbs up!

The pathfinder is very common for this problem, I suggest replacing upper and lower link bars (located rear of the vehicle). This is the problem with many many pathfinders and all have the same complaint.

i have a link for you if you want exact instructions with pictures. It takes about 3-4 hours depending if you know how to do it. Its not really a bad job just depends if you have a lot of rust just make sure you put a lot of pb blaster on those bolts. If this is your first time working on a car then i dont suggest u doing it by yourself because your safety is at risk if you decide to do that. good luck

and the other part of the question is how much would someone charge. im not really sure. if you take 4 hours times $80 hour so theres $320 plus about $100 or less for parts thats going off ebay, but you will want to get them at your repair shop or autozone so you have a warranty.
