SOURCE: My power window in my 2002 chevy impala will not work

The RAP circuit breaker is directly behind the left side fuse panel. The chevy dealer acts like its a big secret and wants 75.00 to plug it in. You have to reach up under the dash and plug it in the BACK side of the left fuse panel. The diagram on the plastic cover is misleading. If you put the seat all the way back, you will have to lay on your back and with a flashlight you should look and you will see where it plugs in. This is on a 2002 chevy impala. Hope this helps.

Best Regards Jeff

2006 chevy impala radio & dash lights stay on now when ahut car off, key out and close and lock doors automatically. Never happened before. Help please..

Could be relay contact's stuck closed allowing power to stay on . Or it could be a BCM - body control module problem .

Retained Accessory Power (RAP)
The retained accessory power (RAP) system allows certain vehicle functions to operate for a specific amount of time after the ignition switch is turned OFF. The body control module (BCM) monitors the ignition switch position, battery condition, and each door ajar switch status to determine whether RAP should be initiated or terminated. RAP is controlled with two different methods; serial data and relay control. Some modules receive a RAP message from the BCM over the serial data circuits. Serial data controlled RAP is deactivated as required by their modules RAP power mode operation. Other subsystems are activated directly by the BCM through a RAP relay. Components and systems that are active in RAP are also activated anytime the ignition is any position other than OFF regardless of the door switch signals.

Relay Controlled RAP
The BCM keeps the RAP relay energized during all power modes, except Off-Awake and Crank. The relay is also energized for approximately 10 minutes after shutting the ignition OFF and removing the key, providing no door is opened.
Relay controlled RAP will end when one of the following conditions is met:
• The BCM receives an input from any door ajar or open switch indicating the opening of any door after the ignition key is out of the ignition.
Important: If the BCM is receiving any door ajar or open signal from those switches when the ignition key is turned OFF, RAP will not initiate.
• The BCM internal timer for the RAP expires after approximately 10 minutes.
• The BCM detects a decrease in battery capacity below a prescribed limit.
Systems powered by the RAP relay during the RAP power mode are as follows:
• A/T shift lock control solenoid assembly (w/ floor shifter)
• Power window circuit breaker
• RAP fuse
• Inside rearview mirror (DD6)
• Sunroof (CF5)
Serial Data Controlled RAP
RAP systems controlled by serial data are as follows:
Radio
Radio RAP activation/termination is the same as relay operation with 1 exception; the only door switch that will turn off the radio during RAP is the driver door open switch.
Vehicle Communication Interface Module (VCIM) (Onstar®)
VCIM RAP activation/termination is the same as radio operation with 1 exception; if there is an active call when the ignition key is turned off the VCIM will remain in RAP mode, and keep the radio in RAP mode until the call is terminated.

Power windows dont work

There is a circuit breaker for power windows .
Power Window System Components
The power window system consists of the following components:
?€¢
Driver Door Switch (DDS)

?€¢
Passenger Door Switch (PDS)

?€¢
Body Control Module (BCM)

?€¢
Rear door power window switches

?€¢
Power window motors in each of the doors

?€¢
PWR WDO Circuit Breaker

Power Window System Controls
The power window system will operate anytime the Retained Accessory Power (RAP) system is active or when the ignition switch is in the ACCY or ON position.
The driver master control switches are integrated into the DDS. When a power window switch is activated in the up or down positions the DDS supplies power and ground to the window motor control circuits to drive the window motor in the required direction. Prior to activating a power window motor the DDS will supply the control circuit with a low current bias voltage in order to determine that a short to ground condition does not exist and during window motor operation the DDS continues to monitor the motor current to verify proper window motor operation.
The DDS controls the passenger window by a serial message to the PDS. When a power window switch is activated in the up or down positions the PDS supplies power and ground to the window motor control circuits to drive the window motor in the required direction. Prior to activating a power window motor the PDS will supply the control circuit with a low current bias voltage in order to determine that a short to ground condition does not exist, and during window motor operation the PDS continues to monitor the motor current to verify proper window motor operation. (Scan tool support is available for this system
Check this circuit breaker
RETAINED ACCSRY PRW BRKR 30 amp. located in the left instrument panel fuse box . if the breaker is good check power B+ at the drivers door switch . connector 1 terminal b yellow wire . Sometimes the wires inside the rubber boot coming from body to door break .

If you haven't opened a door after shutting the key off, that would be normal. It has a retained accessory option.

Where is the front windows fuse for 2004 chevy impala and what are they labeled

it is called retained accessory pwr brkr. It is hard to get to. It is actually not in the fuse box but behind it. It is a solid silver breaker a little larger than a fuse. Mine is a 30amp. I replaced mine last wednesday. I had to take the console that runs under the steering wheel off, then lay under the dash to see back behind the fuse box. If you can get to yours without the pain of taking consol off thats great, but I could not. I paid $15.44 tax included for mine from the dealership. No auto shop such as auto zone or oreileys carries them they are special order.

Power windows stopped working 2005 chevy impala

If they all just stopped at one time, it sounds like the circuit breaker is bad. That circuit breaker is located in the fuse panel inside the vehicle (below is a picture of its location). Also below is a picture of the fuse layout. The circuit breaker you may need to replace which is its only circuit that it works for (power windows & sunroof only if you have a sunroof) is the one in the diagram marked "RETAINED ACCSRY PWR BRKR". That breaker is supposed to reset itself after an overload but they do get weak after time. I would put money that is the problem. I hope this helps and good luck.

Timing belt came off on my 2002 chevy impala 3.8, what is causing this to happen?

That engine does not have a timing belt.

It does have a serpentine belt that drives the accessories like the alternator, power steering pump, water pump, and air conditioning. Some common things that will cause the belt to come off are the water pump bearing has gone bad, the a/c clutch has frozen, or the tensioner has gone bad.

Sunroof will not work

Power is supplied to the Power windows and sunroof through the power window circuit breaker. That circuit breaker is supplied power through the RAP (retained accessory power) Relay, the RAP relay also supplies power to the radio. The RAP relay is also fuse protected by the RAP fuse in the under hood fuse block. The RAP relay is energized by the BCM body control module.

The RAP relay is responsible for the radio and windows working after the igntion is turned off.

The first place to check would be the RAP fuse in the under hood fuse block and then the RAP relay in the Body fuse block.

A list of the BODY relay block located on the left side of the dash to the right of the interior fuse block is below:

(1) Park Lamp Relay (2) Courtesy Lamp Relay (3) Retained Accessory Power (RAP) Relay (4) Power Seats Circuit Breaker (5) Power Windows Circuit Breaker (6) Inadvertent Power Relay (7) Door Lock Relay (8) Headlamp Ground Relay (9) Driver Door Unlock Relay (10) Door Unlock Relay(1) Park Lamp Relay

Which fuse on the fuse panel is the one for the power windows i lost the manual

I know thta, for a 2002 Ford Explorer, the 30 amp circuit breaker in location #62 of the power distribution box in the engine compartment is the power window circuit breaker. (unfortunately in the 2002 owner's manuals it is labelled accessory delay ) later years are labelled as the power window circuit breaker.

Hope helped with this. Remember rated this help, good luck.
