SOURCE: i have a 1999 nissan maxima with code P1320

This code is a crapshoot. There are two main things it could be and they are both expensive. There could be wire breakage in the engine harness. There is a thick harness coming out of engine bulkhead on the passenger/right side and it has a slight bend to it. With the engine idling grab that bend and give it a couple of twists and yanks. If the engine stumbles or misses that is the source of your troubles. If not, you more than likely need to replace the coils. Any one of the six coils could be causing the code so I recommend replacing all six at the same time. You could buy one coil for the front bank and one for the rear and swap it between cylinders to see which coil is causing the code. This is time consuming but cheaper.

Primary ignition fault. Reasons: Bad distributor cap (most likely) or ignition control module/ignition coil.
Hope that helps

SOURCE: problem code p1320 came up on my diagnostic

sounds like one of your ignition coils are starting to fail, try and find a good price for all 6 on ebay

MIL (check engine light) "ON" with DTC P1320 stored in the ECM Intermittent spark knock (detonation)

  • Check the ECCS wiring harness for a broken or damaged wire.
    1. If the ECCS harness has a broken or damaged wire that is causing the symptom(s) noted above, repair the harness and verify the incident is resolved.
    2. If the ECCS harness does not have a broken or damaged wire and is NOT causing the symptom(s) listed above, proceed with step 3 below.
  • Replace ignition coil(s) with the one(s) listed in the Parts Information table, and verify the incident is resolved.

    Code p1320 code p303 code p732 on a nissian maxiam 1995

    P1320, Ignition Signal, Primary
If the code was set after the new starter was installed, I'd check the wiring and connections from the starter/solenoid. They may have gotten damaged or the contacts were not cleaned during the install.

Specifically, 2000-2001 Maxima's have had this problem. It seams as though everybody agrees that the error is caused by the ignition coils.

P0732, Improper Ratio for Second Gear
See someone who's familair with those tranny's gear ratio error in one gear might mean it's slipping! Could be a sensor problem though!

P0303, Cylinder 3 Three Misfire Detected
A code P0303 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
    • Faulty spark plug or wire
    • Faulty coil (pack)
    • Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
    • Faulty fuel injector
    • Burned exhaust valve
    • Faulty catalytic converter(s)
    • Running out of fuel
    • Poor compression
    • Defective computer

Possible Solutions: If there are no symptoms, the simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back.If there are symptoms such as the engine is stumbling or hesitating, check all wiring and connectors that lead to the cylinders (i.e. spark plugs). Depending on how long the ignition components have been in the car, it may be a good idea to replace them as part of your regular maintenance schedule. I would suggest spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor (if applicable). Otherwise, check the coils (a.k.a. coil packs). In some cases, the catalytic converter has gone bad. If you smell rotten eggs in the exhaust, your cat converter needs to be replaced. I've also heard in other cases the problems were faulty fuel injectors.

Hope helps (remember to rate this).

P1320 service code on 2000 nissan maxima & #5 cylinder misfire or #6 cylinder misfire

2000 maxima are famous for having bad coils - those cost about $350 if you dealer isn't trying to rip you off (otherwise they will charge $600). I also read you can get an aftermarket coil at Autozone.

P1320 code appeared and we replaced the cam position sensor. It ran OK, but started rough until warm and next code showed #1 cylinder misfire. Replaced #1 coil and it ran great. Then later the engine light...

i just had the same problem in my bmw 325i. Probably vaccum leak or exhaust leak. Check that nothing came loose in these areas. It takes time for your car to learn the new CPS (cam pos. sensor) so give it a few days and reset the code again and see if it works.

    P1320 trouble code plus

The P1320 code is essentially a coil primary voltage problem. This is traceable using a labscope or accurate DVOM and perhaps you can isolate one or two coils that still work but are close to failure...but there is a nissan service message recommending replacement of ALL coils with updated/improved models to prevent this type of failure. TCS/SLIP is traction control. Most likely you have a speed sensor issue. Be aware, some vehicles can falsely illuminate TCS because of low tire pressure in a single wheel.

Code P1320 what do it mean

consider your fuel injecter, if the fuel injecter isn't good the needle that allows the spray of gas into the cylinder will stick and will not allow the proper amount of gas fire into the cylinder. that is likely the problem if you have already changed the spark plugs, knock sensor, etc... another thing to likely look at is your MAF sensor. though im pretty sure it might be your injector
