Question about 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer Ext
This suv has the turn lever for 4 wheel drive on the dash. At 25 mph a loud roar comes from I believe the front whwwl/axel...I believe it may be a low fluid noise from transfer case...don't know were to check fluid level or what type of fluid to add or is there some other place to check fluid. Or should i be looking elsewere for the source of this noise...I must add a test I just tried. I put the car on 4 jackstands and srarted and put the car in drive. rear wheels spin. no noise. I switch to all whell drive and I hear sound of gears trying to engage but just grinf softly.. thanks in advance !!
That really sounds like you need to verify the level of the trans-axle oil and/or the transmission oil. if you are unsure, or if you didnt perform the change of the oil at the required intervals, you should stop in a pep boys, jeffy lube or similar store and have the fluid levels check.
the transmission oil is easy to check with a dip stick in the engine (not the same to the engine oil), and the trans-axle oil, you will have to remove a bolt in the axle and check with your finger if it is in level.
