One thing that usually works is jiggling it up and down, not far though, just very short up and down motions sometimes gets it to loosen up. If that doesn't work, the retract will have to be removed, then there is a bar inside of it that will have to be pried up while you move the reel back and forth until it releases, then put the retract back on. If you can't get it to retract and you have removed it and checked all parts, then it may have to be replaced.

Release retracted seatbelt

The safety belts are sensible to release speed (u have to release it kinda smooth). Also they are sensibile to car inclination (lean) may not release whel when rise/fall position. If locked,u may have to shake a little the belt so the locking spring/balls to unlock.Eventualy ,when driving it can release by itself. One thing is for shure:no sudden moves:it locks again (as in the impact scenario)Cheers

2009 Kia Spectra EX Driver Seatbelt locked in place

Hi Ann, Try going out to the car now and gently pulling it. If it has not released, take hold of the belt and try pushing it even further into the retracted position. That should unlock it. Regards John

I have a 2010 Ford Fusion. The seats belts are so tight that I can't stand to wear them. Especially the one on the drivers side. It is like with every little jar it tightens up. I have to hold it...

hello from Fordland!
your dealer is able o supply you with a seatbelt extender at no charge. this is a courtesy that ford gives to thei owners. see your local ford dealer for details..i hope this helps, your thumbs up is appreciated....BTW, the right front and all rear seat belts have a child safety feature buil into the retractors. it will cause the seatbelts to cinch tight an not release once engaged, until the seatbelt has been fully retracted therby releasing the locking mechanism...this feature is only engaged when the retractor is pulled out to is fullest limits, at that point you will hear a ratcheting noise as it retracts....

Rear seatbelt stuck behind head rest in locked position

haha we know you didnt do it on purpose, without seeing your problem and the hard to describe issue, i can only recommend to maybe try folding the seat to the cargo position, if that helps. if not, then you will more than likely need to disassemble the rear quarter panel, and unbolt the seat belt retractor from the body of the vehicle. sorry but there is no other way

Far rear wall seatbelts are locked.

Hi,I am guessing you haven't used these belts for a while.Quite often they will wind themselves up with normal car movement and lock.Grab the belt and pull as hard as you can(stretch it).It should come free.

Rear seat down and wont go back up; locked middle belt

middle seat belt shouldn't have anything to do with it. The seat locks down for stowage in the rear cargo area. you can pull the release handle on the back of the seat to release it back into the up position.

Driver side seat belt is fully retracted and will not release.

Try giving it a solid tap with something hard (screw driver handle) while jiggling the seatbelt.

1998 Subaru Outback right rear seatbelt stuck.

you need to pull the belt out all the way to release it ,they have a locking mechanism for baby seats that stops them retracting, you pull them all the way out and they are reset and retract, common in modern cars, rare to give trouble

I have a 1997 Ford Escort. The rear seat belt is stuck

make sure that the rear seats are properly locked into rear catches as this can stop your seatbels from working if ok then sounds like your seatbelt is faulty req new seatbelt.
