Hi!!

Check engine light comes on when the computer detects a malfunction in the emision control system, could be a loose or broken vacumm line, loose gas cap or a sensor.

Drive your vehicle to an AutoZone store, ask them to retreive the trouble codes from your computer memory, they will do that and a print out of the codes and their meaning. This a free service they provide for their customers.

Don't forget to rate this answer. Good Luck

If you are the type that likes to dabble in car repairs, especially computer related issues, you may want to check out a "hand scanner", they are inexpensive and always in your box for a quick check of the computer code memry retaining system. Typically the scanners are price ranged from approx. $79.00-$299.00 to the pro scanners that only a certified tech doing business through a shop should have, those type diagnostic tools price from $1,000.00-$40,000 something even a wealthy tycoon wouldn't need to own as he would have his vehicles serviced by his own private technicians.
The scanners also come with an easy to read illustration of uits uses and also of how to read the codes stored in your computer and what they translate into(example:code P0120 is a malfunction in the TPS circuit) now you also must know that the TPS circuit is the Throttle Position Sensor that reads the relation of the gas pedal(throttle valve) travel through means of a rheostat type device,TPS, and this reading lets the computer know by this information if you are idling(low voltage reading) or pedal to the floor(WOT Wide Open Throttle) thus the computer(ECM Electronic Control Module, brain, command center) then sends the proper signal to the various components to your engines emission devices, allowing the vehicle to run smooth efficient and clean fuel burning.

Location for 2006 buick rainier EVAP purge solenoid

You should have an EVAP leak test done . It could be a leaking purge valve , you could need a new gas cap as well or it could be the fuel filler neck . or assorted hoses or the fuel tank pressure sensor . If the check engine light is lit there will be a code .
DTC P0442: Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) System Small Leak Detected or
DTC P0455: Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System Large Leak
DTC P0446: Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) Vent System Performance
You have to jack up the vehicle , the purge valve is attached to the engine behind the A/C compressor .

Need firing order for 04 raineer

Usually a bad spark plug, plug wire, distributor cap or button. (or coil pack) Any of those will cause that code.

Check your gas cap. If the gas cap is night fitted tightly, it can cause the service light to stay on.

How or where do I check the Transmission Fluid on 2004 Buik Raineer? Also, What type of transmission fluid do I use?

There is a very long dipstick, usually with yellow handle in the engine compartment. The new Dextron 6 is what should be used.

Check Gas Cap alarm comes on and engine light is on

You gas cap is not on tight enough to seal causing the Check Engine Light to come on. When you tighten your gas cap you need to tighten it until it clicks at least 5 times, if it is tight than the seal on the gas cap may be bad. Replace with a OEM GM gas cap or a quality replacement that meets OEM specs.

2004 Buick LaSabre engine service light is on and dealer and autozone says it is a loose gas cap but it is not loose. What do I do?

The cap might need a pressure check. Just because it stays on and tight doesn't mean it is functioning properly. It must meet EPA standards to function properly. Your cap is special part of your emission system and if it is not working properly you will need to replace it and have the light reset. If you owed a code reader it would tell you the same. Auto zone does do free code reading. The check engine light usually is not a big problem,but... I will leave it at that.

Check engine light

The gasket or large o-ring on the under side of the cap might be warn not keeping a tight seal. replace gasket or o-ring, or get a new cap, and see if that cures it.
